With his AAU season completed 247Composite 5-star shooting guard Jabari Bird is now working on locking down his college recruitment.

"I am going to be visiting my top four colleges here in a couple of weeks," says the 6-foot-6 guard out of Richmond, CA and Salesian high school.

Bird says Washington and Cal stand out while Oregon and Colorado trail by just a bit.

"I have Cal and Washington as my top two you could say and then there is Colorado and Oregon," Bird said. "Those are my final four schools I will be looking at."

Bird will visit Cal first on September 1st on an official visit before hitting up Colorado on the 8th, Oregon on the 22nd, and finishing his visits at Washington on the 29th of September.

During the Colorado and Washington visits Bird will travel with AAU teammate and friend Aaron Gordon.

"Right now those two visits we will take together," says Bird. "I don't know how to put it, but we aren't a package deal but we are. Don't be shocked to see us both play at the same college. It isn't a required thing but we like all the same schools."

Bird says he picked his final four schools because all four are close to home on the west coast and being able to play in front of family is important.

"I want to play close to home and be near my family. I like all four schools and they each are close to home and are up and coming programs."

Bird will visit the four schools in September and then put his recruiting on hold for his senior season.

"I plan on signing with my college in the spring," admitted Bird.

Bird says the 2012-13 college basketball season will hold some weight on his choice but not a major one.

"I think I will look at it some but it isn't that huge of a deal for me," said Bird. "I look at the colleges in terms of when I will be there, what will they look like, do I fit in there, do they fit my style, do I like the coaches, the players, that type of stuff."
