Los Alamitos (Calif.) offensive guard Alex Redmond was quickly rising up the recruiting rankings this Spring. The soft-spoken, humble three-star showed up to camps and simply did his best each and every time.
That hard work got him an invite to this week's premier event, 'The Opening.'
But before he leaves for Beaverton, Redmond decided he was ready to commit.
"Oregon is the best fit for me," Redmond said. "I prayed about it and it just made sense to me. I just loved the feel and attention to detail. They even make a shake just for me based on what I need as an athlete."
The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prep will be brought on to play interior lineman for Oregon. His natural position in school now is offensive guard.
"Coach (Steve) Greatwood said he wants me to play guard for him," he said. "He's a pretty soft spoken kind of guy but he got pretty loud when I let him know I was committing. They were just thrilled to have me as part of the class."
Redmond said the path that led him here has been an 'incredible journey.'
"I can't believe I got invited to the Opening and got all of the offers I got. It's a huge blessing to me and I never imagined it in my wildest dreams."
