Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau running back Tra Carson returned home last from an official visit to Iowa Sunday night. Arkansas and Iowa have both recently offered the 6-foot-1, 220-pound prospect. This weekend he is getting ready to taken another official visit to Oregon.
Oregon running back coach Gary Campbell spent time at Carson's home last night.
"Coach Cam was here and telling my mom about the city of Eugene and stuff like that," Carson said. "He's very smooth on his visits and I really enjoy talking to him."
Carson has not kept his commitment plans a big secret as he heads to Eugene this weekend.
"My plan is still to commit on my visit at Oregon," he said. "I'm leaving on Friday and I'm just so excited to get up there and make this happen."
Current Oregon star running back LaMichael James and Carson are close friends and remain in contact. James was in New York City for his nomination for the Heisman trophy. Although James did not win the award, Carson said he was proud of his former teammate.
"It was really cool to see LaMichael up there," he said. "I mean to have someone from our neck of the woods with that much success is just awesome to see."
