Blackmon Transfers from Oregon

Freshman Devon Blackmon has decided to transfer.

Oregon head football coach Chip Kelly announced Monday morning that redshirt freshman receiver Devon Blackmon has informed him he will transfer out of the program.

“He has been a solid contributor to this football program for the last two seasons and I wish him continued success whatever he decides to pursue,” Kelly said in a school press release.

Blackmon had appeared in two games this season playing in the season opener against Arkansas State and also against Tennessee Tech. Blackmon however had yet to accumulate any stats.

Blackmon starred at Summit high school in Fontana, CA and caught 31 passes for 379 yards and five touchdowns as a senior. He added 370 yards rushing and six more touchdowns. Blackmon played in the 2011 Under Armour All-American Game and scored one touchdown.

Blackmon picked Oregon over offers from Cal, UCLA, and Oregon.

Blackmon has been excused from his remaining football obligations according to the release and he will have three seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining.

The 2011 recruiting class featured Rashaan Vaughn, Blackmon, B.J. Kelley, and Tacoi Sumler. Vaughn will graduate this year while Blackmon and Sumler have now transferred out of the program.
