Rahsaan Vaughn (College of San Mateo, CA) is maybe the best receiver on the west coast for the junior college ranks and was recentl named a JC All-American. Now Vaughn has decided he was ready to pick a college.
"Chip Kelly from Oregon actually came down here just now and I decided I was ready and I committed to him while here," said an excited Vaughn. "Coach Kelly was really glad because he said they needed someone like me and was excited for me to get up there and start working."
"Everything about Oregon is why I committed. It didn't matter if they went 0-12, 5-7, 7-5, or 12-0 I was picking the Ducks no matter what. The coaches there just did an awesome job and are really nice. Everything about Oregon is awesome and I know I am going to a place that I will be pushed."
Vaughn said a big factor was his mother's approval.
"Even my mother, who doesn't know much about football, said Oregon was a great school and the coaches there were truly special," said Vaughn. "So I knew it was special."
At 6'2 and 190 pounds with a blazing 4.4 forty Vaughn presents the coaching staff a player who can come right in and compete.
"As soon as my classes get done in May I am going up to Oregon and working out, learning the playbook, jelling with my teammates, and trying to become the best that I can be," said Vaughn.
"It sounds like the coaches want me to play the outside which is fine by me. They have a few spots open and I am going up there to earn my spot and become a player for them right away."
Vaughn indicated he does have his redshirt available but he will be going in with the mindset to play right away.
Besides an offer from Oregon Vaughn also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia, Hawaii, and Utah.
Vaughn officially visited Arizona and Oregon and felt after the Oregon visit he knew it was right.
"I kind of had a feeling after that visit and I think a lot of people kind of knew that was where I'd end up," said Vaughn. "It just was a really good visit."
