No. 23 Oregon and Cal face off in a huge Pac-12 game tonight inside Matthew Knight Arena. Tip is set for 6 pm and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2 for the entire nation to see.
Can E.J. Singler get his first career victory over Cal Thursday night?
Oregon looks to extend their winning streak to four games while Cal is looking to push their own winning streak to four games, but also get within one game of first place in the Pac-12.
Cal will look to move past "The Shove" where Cal head coach Mike Montgomery pushed junior Allen Crabbe last Sunday to fire him up against USC. Oregon is hoping to avenge a 58-54 loss just 19 days ago and get past their own altercation when Tony Woods was ejected against Washington State Saturday.
The Bears have won five of their last six, including wins over Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA. Crabbe has been on fire averaging 19 points per game over that period, including a 31-point outing at Arizona. Crabbe has won back-to-back Pac-12 Player of the Week honors as well.
Oregon can't focus just on Crabbe because then point guard Justin Cobbs will light you up.
“Anytime you have two of the best guards in the in the league — if not the two best guards in the league — you’ve got a chance in every ballgame, which they do,” Oregon's Dana Altman said earlier in the week. “When those two guys get it going, they can play with anybody.”
Cobbs is second on the Bear's roster in scoring with 14.8 points a game while also dishing out 4.5 assists per game.
Oregon will have to play their eighth game without Dominic Artis who continues to sit out with a foot injury. Artis could return to action this weekend when Stanford comes to town on Saturday.
The Ducks haven't beaten Cal since Montgomery has become head coach and have lost 10 straight games.
