Oregon faces rival Washington in an important Wednesday night road game at Washington Wednesday evening. Tip is set for 8 PM and the game is broadcast on ESPN with Dave Pasch and Bill Walton on the call. Oregon is looking to keep pace in the Pac-12 standings where they are currently in a three-way tie for first place.
Can Carlos Emory and the Ducks grind out an important road win against rival Washington?
Wednesday night will be the first time since 2002 when Oregon played in Seattle as a ranked team. The Huskies beat the Ducks back on Jan. 24, 2002 when Oregon was ranked No. 19 97-92. With a win over the Huskies Oregon will get their first regular season sweep over the Huskies since 1995. The Ducks however has had a tough time winning as of late in Seattle losing 10 of their last 11 games. Washington has dropped their last six games against ranked opponents which bodes well for Oregon.
Dana Altman is 3-4 in his career against Washington.
Oregon has struggled the last five games without starting point guard Dominic Artis, but on Saturday they beat Utah to end a three-game losing streak 73-64. Without Artis Oregon is now 2-3 with one home loss and two road losses.
Washington meanwhile has held a players only meeting and head coach Lorenzo Romar has been honest and upfront about the team taking accountability of their struggles. Yet here the Huskies are losing six of their last seven games in the Pac-12 and fighting for their NCAA Tournament dreams.
The team that can play consistent all night will win. Can Oregon find a way to get good looks in the paint? Can Oregon limit C.J. Wilcox's looks? Both questions could be the game's keys for victory as well.
