John Neal will remain at Oregon.
Oregon fans hit the panic button momentarily when news hit John Neal would interview for the vacant UAB job.
The plan was for him to fly out Wednesday afternoon and interview on Thursday. He was possibly, by some accounts, the leading name for the position.
This morning I received word coach Neal had removed his name from consideration and would in fact stay at Oregon. It sounds like it was a tough decision for the long-tenured Duck coach, however he has roots in Eugene and enjoys the lifestyle.
The news is well-timed in terms of recruiting. There were some concerns by Arrion Springs and Mattrell McGraw with his intent to interview. Now with that behind, this should keep Oregon in great shape with each.
For those who may not follow recruiting daily, Springs is committed, while McGraw favors Oregon but has not committed.
This also gives new defensive coordinator Don Pellum all of the best tools to start his new career. As well as a sharp defensive mind to share new ideas and concepts.
