Will Chip Kelly head to Philly to coach the Eagles or return to Oregon to coach the Ducks?
After extensive meetings with the Cleveland Browns on Friday, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly met with representatives from the Philadelphia Eagles virtually all day Saturday, however like his conversations with Cleveland, Kelly and the Eagles walked away from discussions without a deal in place.
According to numerous published reports, Kelly met with Philadelphia for approximately nine hours on Saturday, scrapping an original plan that reportedly had him lunching with Eagles and then re-meeting with the Browns Saturday evening. Yet, the dinner meeting with Cleveland never came to fruition and according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Kelly will now decide between taking the Eagles head coaching position and returning to Oregon, with conflicting reports suggesting that the Browns have reportedly "re-booted" their coaching search with Kelly no longer being considered a candidate.
A league source informs the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Kelly may in fact be leaning towards returning to Oregon and that a final decision could be made by the end of the day Sunday.
The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is also reporting that Nike co-founder and chairman and prominent Oregon booster Phil Knight has entered the mix and has made a "big push" to keep Kelly at Oregon, though the details of what that "big push" might entail are currently unknown.
