Northwest Notebook: Junior Days

2014 Southridge (Beaverton, OR) receiver Jordan Morgan says he will be going up to Washington’s Junior Day event this month. Morgan is 6-foot-3 and one of the top receivers in the Northwest area. Morgan is also in the works of setting up an unofficial visit to Oregon as well. Oregon doesn’t typically host major junior day events. Morgan says Oregon would like him to come in by himself so he could spend more time one-on-one with the staff. He will also visit Oregon State for their junior day later in the year....

2014 Jesuit (Portland, OR) tight end Henry Mondeaux will also make the trek north to Washington for Junior Day. Mondeaux is being sought after by multiple BCS schools but could end up playing at a wide variety of positions. Mondeaux has said schools like him at defensive end, tight end, and even offensive tackle. He has an offer from Oregon State...

Aloha high school was loaded in the 2013 class with five-star Thomas Tyner and four-star Brayden Kearsley but the Warriors have an FBS prospect returning in 2014 too. Athlete Maurice McSwain is getting mail from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Utah, Michigan, and now most recently Alabama. It is in the early stages but ASU has stepped up and have asked the 5-foot-11 speed athlete to visit for junior day. McSwain says he will visit...

2014 Jesuit (Portland, OR) linebacker Joey Alfieri will also visit Arizona State and Washington for their junior days after getting invites to both. Alabama has recently started the recruiting process with Alfieri and watch him become one of the best 2014 prospects in the region...

2014 defensive end Marqueese Royster out of Lakeridge (Portland, OR) isn’t the biggest or fastest player on the field but few players will match his desire to compete and work ethic. Royster is hearing from a host of colleges from both the west coast and east coast. He will visit Washington this weekend, Washington State next weekend for their junior day and then Arizona State later in the month for their junior day. Royster has also been invited to Cal’s junior day...

One of the fastest rising juniors in the Northwest is 2014 linebacker A.J. Hotchkins out of Tigard (Tigard, OR). The 6-foot 230 pound linebacker made the move from hoops to football this past summer and it has paid off with BCS schools showing attention already. Iowa, Oregon State, and Washington. Hotchkins is a physical bone-crushing player who a very high ceiling. He will also take in Washington’s junior day this weekend.

2014 OT Kaleb McGary out of Fife high school in Tacoma, WA has an Oregon offer along with Oregon State, Arizona State, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. He has been invited to every single junior day for Pac-12 schools besides the California schools. He will make an unofficial visit to Washington this weekend for a junior day...

Roosevelt high school in Portland, OR has around five to seven potential FBS or FCS players according to head coach Christian Swain. A large group of those players will be heading to Washington this weekend for their junior day as well...

2014 DT Sione Tauemoe’anga is 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds and is hearing a lot from BYU and a lot of the Ivy League schools according to head coach Christian Swain. Portland State and BYU could be close to offering. Tauemoe’anga recorded 108 tackles and 13.5 sacks as a junior. He will take in Washington’s junior day this weekend. Camps at BYU, Portland State, and potentially Oregon are also set for this summer...

2014 DT/OG Semise Kofe out of Roosevelt will also make the trek north to Washington this weekend for their junior day. Last season he battled an injury all season but finished the year with 23 tackles and five sacks. Portland State and Ivy League schools are already on him and Kofe will also visit Washington for junior day this weekend....

2015 DTQB Kimane Domena out of Roosevelt high school in Portland, OR is maybe the state’s best quarterback regardless of class going into off-season workouts. At 6-foot-1 he’s throws a tight spiral and can fit passes into tight windows. Improving his arm strength and throwing on the run will be the work he must improve on this year. As a sophomore Domena threw for 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 782 yards rushing and 16 more touchdowns. BYU and Colorado State have already offered Domena scholarships at quarterback. Playing safety could also be a possibility at the next level. Domena will also attend Washington’s junior day...

2014 ATH Devante Downs out of Mountlake Terrace high school in Lynwood, WA continues to rack up offer after offer and is one of the most offered kids in the Northwest. Cal is the most recent school to off the 6-foot-3 220 pound player. Downs also holds offers from Arizona State, Colorado State, Utah, Washington, and Washington State. Boise State, Oregon, and Oregon State are three other schools already recruiting Downs but haven’t offered...

2014 DT Marcus Griffin out of Bellevue, WA and powerhouse Bellevue high school. Griffin is already hearing from Washington and Washington State and will take in the Huskies’ junior day this weekend...

2014 LB Brett Carter out of Franklin Pierce high school in Tacoma, WA has had Washington, Washington State, and Eastern Washington show recent interest. SMU and TCU have received unofficial visits already from the 6-foot-3 220 linebacker. He will visit Washington this weekend and then Washington State the following weekend.
