The Ducks got some answers tonight. After a very turbulent weekend for the Ducks' fans, half of the wavering commits have made their final decisions and another target confirmed his choice.
Carrington has decided to stick with Oregon.
Wilson flips to Ohio State
Tonight DeSoto (Texas) all-purpose back Dontre Wilson verbally announced his decision to commit to Ohio State. This was not ground breaking news as of this morning as DuckTerritory learned this would in fact happen.
It's certainly a blow to the class but not the crippling effect some may fear. Oregon was able to act accordingly last night and secure a second solid running back in Kani Benoit. Certainly Wilson had more upside than Benoit, but his bigger frame might be what the staff needs for the tough yards.
Wilson will likely be used in more of a wide receiver type role at Ohio State, similar to Percy Harvin.
Carrington sticks with the Ducks
But all was not lost for Oregon tonight. The Ducks were able to secure the wavering commitment from Darren Carrington tonight.
The talented four-star receiver might be the big-time playmaker the Ducks need out wide in order to elevate the passing game. Oregon has seen a few of the younger receivers transfer out of the program and the depth chart is wide open.
Carrington is the No. 130 overall ranked player in the nation.
Ragin sticks with Cal
Oregon fans, and myself, were expecting to get Johnny Ragin to clip on his commitment from Cal. But tonight he tweeted that after some long thought he has decided to stick with the Bears. There shouldn't be any sour grapes here among Oregon fans. This is an in-state kid that got some great offers and gets a chance to play Pac-12 ball. Oregon offered late, too late and he stuck with his original commitment.
Ragin would have been a nice addition to this class but likely wouldn't have been the type of big impact player Oregon needs. He's a great young man, with tons of athleticism, and at the end of the day Cal may have been the better fit.
It will be key for Oregon to hold on to Tyrell Robinson in order to keep the linebacker corps relatively in tact.
Davin Bellamy also tweeted he had made his decision, but gave no insight as to where that would be. Stay Tuned.
