Oregon has been pretty active early in the year hosting key targets in Eugene. This weekend the Ducks will host Cal in what could be a wet event. Or since it's Eugene, it could be completely dry.
Can Oregon make a big splash for Tony James this weekend?
Either way a football game will be played at Autzen Saturday night.
There are three official visitors coming to town this weekend. Here is the low down and the latest with each.
Oregon is hot to trot after three-star running back Tony James. Which surprises man but the staff feels like he is a fit for the offense. The latest suggests the main competition would be Auburn and Florida, however our insiders in those market tell me both schools aren't quite as high on him with other targets in mind.
The Ducks are looking for a speed compliment to the power running style of Royce Freeman.
It's expected James will still take other visits but this could be a chance for Oregon to get to an early lead.
Oregon is hosting one of the top in-state prospects this weekend for an official visit. Mondeaux is clearly an interesting target.
Where does Oregon stand with Mondeaux?
He can play on both sides of the ball but Oregon seems to be looking at Mondeaux to play defensive end. He's up to around 250 pounds and still moves pretty well for a guy his size.
The Ducks are in the market for a tight end in this class still. Which makes it curious why they don't switch the offer for Mondeuax. Obviously they aren't sold with him on offense or I assume they would.
Washington appears to be the biggest competition at this time for Oregon.
Do they want him or not?
I frankly don't know. Oregon is obviously interested to a degree or he wouldn't be visiting. There is no concern about his ability on the field.
In any event, Quick will be on campus this weekend taking in the sights and sounds.
At this point Notre Dame may be in line to steal this California 4-star. USC was heavy in the hunt but the recent decision to cut ties with former commit (and Quick teammate) Tashon Smallwood may derail their chances.
Oregon will need to prove this weekend he is a guy they are sold on and make a big push to keep him in the region.
As we told you all earlier this week, Randall Cunningham will be in Eugene today and tomorrow. However he won't be at the game due to other obligations.
Matt Prehm tells me the hoops team is hosting four official visitors this weekend. Making it another giant weekend for Dana Altman and his staff.
Come back to DuckTerritory today and tomorrow to get updates on most of the recruits and where Oregon stands with each.
