Damyean Dotson and the Oregon Ducks could be playing a tougher 2013-14 schedule.
The three games would give Oregon a huge lift in the non-conference slate with all three teams projected as potential NCAA Tournament teams. Ole Miss and Illinois both won first round games in the 2013 NCAA Tournament while BYU made a deep run in the NIT.
The Ole Miss game sets up a potential match-up between All-American candidate Marshall Henderson of Ole Miss against Damyean Dotson of Oregon. Henderson averaged 20.1 points per game last year while also being a national story due to his off and on-court behaviors. Dotson was a Pac-12 All-Freshmen Team member and also 1st-Team All-Pac-12 Tournament.
The BYU game is part of a two-game series that was started during the 2011-12 season when Oregon played BYU in Salt Lake City. The Cougars make the return trip in 2013-14 to Eugene. BYU finished 24-12 last season with a loss to Baylor in the NIT Semifinals. The Cougars bring back their top scorer in Tyler Haws, another elite college guard who averaged 21.7 points per game as a sophomore. BYU also returns their starting point guard and third leading scorer in Matt Carlino who scores 11.5 points and also a team high 4.8 assists per game.
Illinois finished the year with a loss to Miami in the NCAA Tournament's third round and finished the year 23-18. The Illini see their top three scorers graduate but have the nation's 19th best recruiting class.
DuckTerritory.com sources can confirm the Oregon Illinois series in Portland, OR and that the Ducks are now looking to expand their presence in Portland with a potential regular game there every year now.
