Mundt commits to Oregon

Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic tight end Johnny Mundt has had a sensational month. Since June 7 Duke, Oregon and Washington have issued offers.

Today the 6-foot-5, 235-pound prep decided to jump on one of those scholarships.

"I just love the way Oregon recruited me and I'm ready to be a Duck," Mundt said. "They talked to my baseball and football coaches about me. The athletic director, counselors, teachers all spoke with Oregon coaches about me. That tells me they care about my character and I respect that."

Mundt said the Oregon staff was more than excited to hear the news.

"They were high-fiving and passing the phone around saying how glad they were to have me," he said. "I spoke with Chip Kelly and he said recruiting is like a marriage and we are engaged. When you're engaged you don't go looking around, so I'm a Duck and I'm not talking to anyone else. We will just get married on signing day."
