In a full day of events for Oregon fans that has seen no changes to the depth chart, Duck fans can breath a huge sigh of relief.
After the news hit that backup quarterback Bryan Bennett was planning to leave the program, a full day of uncertainty followed.
Earlier today Bennett was absent from practice and seen entering the Casanova Center to speak with head coach Chip Kelly. He informed media he was going to talk to Chip Kelly about his future with the program.
Speculation ensued and most felt Bennett would be gone after he had said his good-bye's to several teammates and staff.
However, in the end after his meeting with Kelly and other staff, Bennett has made a new and final decision to stay at Oregon.
Although Bennett is the current back-up to freshman Marcus Mariota, the quarterback position has seen numerous injuries in the past. In fact, no starter has made it through an entire season under Chip Kelly.
One well-placed source said, "Bennett is staying and Chip can breath a huge sigh of relief."
Bennett could in fact be the most important back up on the team as most fans can recall some rough times with the back-up quarterback being thrust into a starting role for Oregon.
Please keep in mind, no official release has come from the University on this matter.
