Former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly left the Ducks to pursue an NFL job as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday. Wednesday’s events happened so quickly that we will give an inside look of how this all went down.

Chip Kelly begins to second guess his decision to return
Various reports from the National Football League side of things have said Kelly started to have different feelings on coming back to Oregon on January 8th. The Eagles were involved with interviewing Brian Kelly but got word that Oregon’s Kelly was again interested. From there the two parties went about speaking again.
Chip Kelly informs Rob Mullens of decision
At Oregon athletic director Rob Mullen’s press conference on Wednesday afternoon Mullens said he wasn’t aware Kelly was talking to any other teams but did say he skeptical “until all NFL jobs were filled.” Mullens said Kelly gave him a phone call around 7 to 7:30 am on Wednesday to inform him he was leaving Oregon and would be taking the Eagles’ head coaching job.
Mullens holds conference call with coaches
Sometime shortly after Kelly spoke with Mullens and before Oregon’s press conference the Oregon athletic director got on a conference call with all of Oregon’s assistants who were out recruiting to inform them of the news and the plan.
Chip Kelly meets with the team
Oregon head coach met with the team following his conversation with Rob Mullens according to sources as well as Mullens and players. This meeting took place between 8 am and 10 am inside Oregon’s football facilities where Kelly spoke with every player personally to say good bye.

Oregon and the Eagles announce Chip Kelly has left for the NFL
Both schools during the 9 am hour sent out tweets and a press release saying Chip Kelly had left Oregon for the NFL and was hired by the Eagles.
Oregon posts new job opening on their school website

Kelly leaves Eugene for Philadelphia
Chip Kelly left the Casanova center after 11 AM and went directly to a private airplane waiting for him at Eugene’s airport. From there Kelly flew on a direct flight to Philadelphia.
Rob Mullens announces a search for a head coach
At 2 pm local time Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens held a press conference to detail Oregon’s loss of Kelly, where Oregon stands now, and that Oregon will open up a national search for their new head coach at Oregon. Mullens said that there "wasn't a leader in the clubhouse" to become the next head coach at Oregon and that Oregon is going to be very thorough.

A 1:30 PM in Philadelphia former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly will officially be introduced as head coach of the Eagles.
