Im class of '00 and I grew up in West Salem before West was built. If West Salem was built when I was in high school, we would have had some state championships in football, basketball, and baseball. Pretty much all the talent from both schools was from West Salem.....it was impressive.
I did have the pleasure of playing with Jed Lowrie for pretty much three straight years. Never dreamed he would be starting for the Boston Red Sox one day. Heck, the only scholarship he got was to like Linfield....he had to walk on at Stanford.
Man did we have a crummy football program though....

I was class of 04, I remember Jed vaguely and only because we always had to scrimmage the varsity B-ball team. He was a good all around athlete and glad to see he made it big time. That's crazy his only offer was from Linfield! Pretty sure football is still crummy there. We made state playoffs in 04 and lost on a hail mary to Central Catholic but thats the only time in the last decade that I can remember the football team doing anything.

Jed was a sophomore when I was a senior I believe so he was the talented young kid who played on varsity. Coach Lee used to call him 'Smooth' because everything he did just looked so smooth. We used to always tease him because his Dad would always make him drink milk when we were on the road as a team and we stopped to get something to eat.
I guess milk DOES do a body good.

McNary Alum here throwing the proverbial hat in the ring...
South Salem was always the school we loved to hate. Nice to see North doing well at something. Heck of a baseball program too.
My youngest will soon be attending the University of West Salem and that place is fast developing it's own reputation...
