RB Green talks Ducks

  • Just a few quotes from ESPN. Man I love his attitude and want him even more now.

"Want to know how important The Opening is to ESPN 150 running back Derrick Green? So important that the Richmond (Va.) Hermitage High School standout was in the weight room at the players’ host hotel Wednesday afternoon -- a full day before the event officially kicks off.
“This is an opportunity for me to become the No. 1 running back and not be the No. 6 running back. That’s my goal, to come out here and show my skills and why I should be the No. 1 back.”
Green said Oregon made his list because of its growing reputation for producing quality running backs. Green is built like a linebacker but has LaMichael James speed. He’s been clocked in the 40-yard dash at 4.3 seconds.

  • Wow, I'll take him. That is the kind of attitude I love.

  • Me likes some Green,.hope we get a commit from this stud!!!

  • Couldn't have asked for a better justification. Didn't talk about the Oregon brand, but talked about Campbell's record of producing quality RBs.

  • I don't follow this stuff as closely as some, but in the chat going on right now on ESPN, there was the following exchange.

Green, what style of offense do you want to play in? Would you commit to a school that doesn't run the style of offense you like?
Green: "I would like to play in a pro-style offense. As for the other question, I don't know right now."

Obviously this could change, but I figured it's worth mentioning to temper our expectations. Sorry to bear bad news.

  • First off, who wouldn't want this guy? He's an absolute freak of an athlete!

I'm happy he has us on his list but I'm not holding my breath in anticipation. As we gain respect from being successful and the Oregon brand gains traction we will see more and more top prospects put Oregon in their list.
Unfortunately, we shouldn't expect many of them to actually end up here. Being on more top athlete's lists is a reflection of or success.

  • Another little tibit from the chat with Ricky Seals-Jones. Looks like we've got a real shot.

Ricky, as such a talented athlete. How do you feel about fitting in with Oregon's offense?

    Ricky:
"I think I could fit great. They have a booming offense, and I feel like I could be a part of it."

Do you like a pro style offense or spread offense better?

    Ricky:
I like spread. The spread is more of a passing offense for a wide receiver.
