How would adding Gordon affect the 2 spot? Although I don't disagree that they will be fine at the 2 with Dot, Bassit, Cook and Tyree. I think Bassit and Cook will probably play both the 2 and the 3 with Bassit playing more 2 than Cook but you never know. Also have Lapray coming in, but maybe Coach Altman is going to have him try PG first, as all these other guys are so much more athletic than AJ is

For some reason i have a feeling that Tyree is going to stick with basketball and Tyrell is going to only focus on football, as he has already done by not playing basketball this season. which i wouldnt be dissapointed in at all.

I don't know. There are a lot of 6'4" shooting guards out there who have a better stroke than Tyree does. There aren't however many 6'4" 220lb safety's(I know he isn't 220 now but will be in a year or two) who are as athletic as Tyree is. You would have to think his ability to play professionally is much greater in football than it is in hoops.

Nah, Tyree has a football scholarship. Helf won't keep him on scholarship if he's not going to play football. He'll be out there.

  • Amazing, especially given the pathetic and unacceptable condition of the Women's Basketball Program.

  • If Richardson can play (big IF), one wonders why he barely played at all ... OR ... why he wasn't redshirted?

Since he did not redshirt, he could (conceivably) transfer ... just me speculating, wildly, at that ... and then redshirt.

Also wondering how and if Moore and Keumper fit in to the plans ... Not to bag on him, but I never thought Keumper was a High D1 player, from the first time I watched him at Westview.

    MacMallard1

  • Bassit is more 2 than 3 ... Cook is straight 3, though he can reportedly "shut down" 1-4 ... a very nice luxury to have.

  • Bassit is a 2 all the way but if Oregon wants to go small I guess they could play him at SF but IMO they'd put Dotson at the three then.

Without Gordon this would be my projected lineup next year.

    G - Artis/Loyd/Lapray
    G - Dotson/Bassit/Moore
    F - Cook/Richardson
    F - Carter/Bell
    C - Austin/Felicio/Kuemper

If they get Aaron Gordon someone from that list above won't be on the roster. It could be a transfer, someone giving up a scholarship and walking on, or an incoming recruit going JC/Prep school

    G - Artis
    G - Dotson
    F - Cook
    F - Gordon
    F - Carter

That would be my projected lineup right now but again it is a long ways out and it is pretty fluid.

Matt, do you see Kuemper transferring or Felicio not qualifying as the more likely scenario?

    Neither.

Kuemper is only a freshman remember and he got passed up by two new guys yes but remember he is strictly a center at Oregon and the Ducks already had Woods back and Kazemi came in and allowed Oregon to play small with him at center. I expect he plays next year 5-10 minutes a game like what Austin did this year. He's got good form on his jumper and moves well. Big guys take a long time to develop and he wasn't a instant impact big like Carter was coming out of high school.

Won't be shocked to see him transfer Mac. He hardly played this season and Oregon is bringing Cook and the other JC guy who could play his position. Plus Gordon could also steal minutes.

Ben Carter > Waverly Austin IMHO. Waverly looks awkward out there, while Carter seems to be the more polished of the 2 especially outside of 5 ft. Carter has a really nice mid-range game and will only get better. Really excited about the future of the program.

Agreed, Carter is a stud and I'm excited as hell for his potential.

  • I like Carter a lot ... he really knows how to think his way around a basketball court ... he's very efficient. I've been hoping for significantly more minutes, for him. Think he's gonna' be really good.

  • re. Keumper,

When you're strictly a 5, you need to realize that you are strictly a 5 and play accordinglly ... and especially so, when you are TOLD that you are strictly a 5 ... He plays like he thinks he is a wing, and he rebounds, commensurate ... Saw him at home, Vs. Jesuit, for instance, and he roamed all over the perimeter. Got 2 rebounds the whole game, and allowed offensive put-backs galore, including on opponents' FT misses. Coaches were screaming at him and obviously frustrated; it didn't seem to phase him. Was jacking up threes ... hit none of them ... missed 3 of 4 FT's of his own, with the game on the line. I know some of guys, from that team; they say he always plays that way, and they said it's exasperating.

In the NW Shootout, against the Washington team, that featured Davonte Lacey and Gary Bell, Jr., it was more of what I'd seen previously .... think AK ended up with something along the lines of 5 points and 2 rebounds ... Looked like he didn't care at all ... the word 'prima donna' occurred to me. I would LOVE to be proven wrong, of course.

    MacMallard1

  • 22 rebounds is Kevin Love-ish ... that's just a helluva' lot of rebounds, against AIR ... Wow ...

Yes, this would be our 'biggest' signing in decades ... Ronny Lee was the last consensus Top 10 HS player, nationally, that we signed.

    I am praying fervently ...

Elgin Cook will be able to shut down 1-4, at the high D1 level, according to his JC coach.

We could be an absolute Bee-itch to play against !!!!!!!

    MacMallard1

  • Add Jordan bell to the equasion he is a beast shot block/ rebounder as well.

Where did you see a stat about 22 Rebs? I just didn't see it in the thread but I might have missed it. I'm assuming it was Aaron you're talking about. Outside of the dunks and stuff that he would bring, the thing that would be best about him is he could come in from day one and put up the numbers that Arsalan puts up. And add more offense than Arsalan does, although I see AG playing similar to AK in this sense. Lots of put backs and low post points. His J is ok, which is better than AK's. To be totally honest, I can't recall AK shooting a jumper this season? No he has to have shot a few but they are most certainly few and far between.
Why do you think they don't go to AK more in the post? He is by far the best in the low post on the team, as he just seems to thrive down there with his back to the hoop. I know guys like Bill Walton always wondered why he wasn't more aggressive, and while that may be true to an extent it would seem like they could put him in better positions to highlight what he does well? Rather than seeing Tony and Waverly miss bunny after bunny and then fall on the ground, it would seem like a better option to get him the ball down on the block. And he's such a tremendous passer if it would make sense to me to have EJ or Dot out on the wing and if they double down you have an open 3 ball? I mean, it's just that easy isn't it Kuz??fingergun

No, you're right. Kazemi I don't think has any points outside the paint besides FTs. I've watched almost every game and I haven't seen him shoot a jumpshot. I must be that bad lol.

Too bad about Shaun Livingston. Dude had one of the worst injuries I have ever seen in a hoop game. Damn near lost his leg. Grantland did a great piece on him about a month ago. It's crazy, i read that article and like 2 days later Nerlens Noel did almost the same thing to his knee. Livingston was nasty with the rock. Looking at that list kills me, effing Sebastian Telfair. As a Blazer fan, I have endured some draft day blunders but the Telfair pick is right near the top. IMO it goes Oden over Durant, Bowie over MJ and Telfair over everyone else. Only reason I say Oden pick was the worst was because Bowie had some ok years in the NBA. The only thing the nation knows about Oden is d!ck pics.
