hmmm. Have to think the Ducks performance well above expectations, coupled with the less than expected performance of Arizona, Washington and Kentucky give the Ducks a chance. Also, that Altman won coach of the year can't hurt.

  • Has he visited oregon? Sorry for the obvious question - I don't follow bb recruiting closely

  • At one point last night Bill Walton said Oregon needs that one player who can jump up and grab the crucial rebound. Gordon would be that perfect fit. I hope he was watching. BTW, I hear he is still not 100% certain on his choice. Julius Randell chooses this Wednesday on ESPN and Wiggins has taken all his visits. There are still dominos yet to fall....

  • I don't know what our chances are, but it would be huge. You have to think we have as good of a chance as anyone. I kind of doubt this year's success will be the deciding factor, but it sure don't hurt.

In addition to what D08 stated, after his OV he removed Oregon from his final group. Just before Artis's injury, when the Ducks went to the bay area to play, Gordon added Oregon back to his final four, citing that he didn't realize how good the freshman class was that Altman had recruited. The freshman look even better now with Carter stepping up big as did Dotson. The Ducks already have some great pieces committed for next year. Adding Gordon could put them in position talent wise to compete for a run into the E8 or more.

Gordon said one of his deciding factors was going to be how successful of a season the teams had and his chance for immediate playing time based off the current roster and our SF/PF role that Carlos, EJ, and Arzalan all fill this year. So long as one of Wiggins/Randle Pick Kentucky I like Oregon's chances.

Unless he recorded it I don't think he did. Based on twitter he had a playoff game as well.

  • Everyone's been really high on Gordon after he added us back to the list, but I still think we're a bit of a longshot here. Great that he's considering us, but I wouldn't get our hopes up.

I'm not sure longshot is accurate. We were a longshot after he cut us the first time. I don't think Gordon adds Oregon back to the list if he wasn't seriously considering Oregon. Since he added Oregon, Oregon has done what it needed to do to stay in the hunt. Looking at the other rosters (doogs, cats and cats) Oregon has more immediately available minutes with the departure of Emory, Singler and Kazemi than the other teams and their graduations and or likely NBA departures.

I believe its an Arizona Oregon battle with Kentucky too far away (not making the dance would be huge) and Washington dropping due to performance.

  • But, don't forget Gordon's dad's long-time friendship with Romar ...

Your right, maybe Romar can recruit him to the PAC 12 network. So Romar, EK and Gordon can call the games together.

Kid seems to be a one and gone candidate.....distance might be mitigated by the fact that his college experience might be 9 months. Oh how I hate the college hoops system.

He may be. But an advantage to Oregon if so. Altman has shown his ability and willingness to recruit players that had only one - two seasons of eligibility, blend them with the other players and have them thrive at Oregon.

It also doesn't hurt that Oregon is playing in San Jose. Look for Gordon to be there. Win two, I like our chances!

Has a good sound to it, Wouldn't doubt one bit If he picked Oregon, regardless if it's one and done. NCAA are such Hypocrite's, they'll make a kid go to College for 3 year's before he can declare for NFL Draft, but a kid can do a one and done for BB, the whole institution has " NO INTEGRITY WHATSOEVER", their such a farce, and scream's GREED, and is only and I repeat only about Money. Just like Purcell, not getting a chance to play College Ball is the Biggest show of ineptitude by So called Educated people. Someone need's to slap a Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit against this FARCITY of a Organization as there ever was one. When will someone Challenge them really!

    MTD,
I'm not sure your frustration should be at the NCAA. Much bigger issue. NFL and NBA players unions. From an NCAA standpoint what can they do? If I'm a top tier ready to play pro ball kid right out of high school, I can't go pro unless I play baseball. So I get recruited by and sign with a college. As soon as I am able to sign a suitable contract with a pro team I'm gone. My salary from the league can more than pay my college costs later. What is the NCAA going to do to stop it? They can't do anything, it would be an anti-trust violation. What stops kids from declaring earlier are the rules established by the NFL and NBA. What keeps kids from declaring earlier than their actual graduation is they lose their scholarship and should a contract not pan out with the NFL or NBA they don't have a fall back, i.e., Thomas (although Thomas had already graduated).

  • Maybe the NCAA did us a favor by putting us in San Jose, his home town. Maybe he'll get a chance to come out and see his future team get a couple tournament wins in person.

The NCAA doesn't dictate when a player can go pro. The pro leagues do.

I don't think so, he just has to much work to do on his offensive game. He won't be able to jump over everybody like he can in HS. Who knows what will happen, but if Coach Altman and Co could pull this one off the future would be very bright. I think winning the Pac 12 tourney has to help a ton with Aaron and with all those young guys playing so well. And when you look at who the Ducks lose, he would fit in very well in Eugene.
