Armond back to SC...Arik to....

  • With the news that Armond is heading back to USC to finish up, the ducks chances to land Arik must have gone up a ton right? The reason they were looking at ND & AUburn was to play together. He hates USC for screwing up his brother's issues...he liked Cal because of Tosh....that leaves us....

    Justin any thoughts?

  • If Armond is going to USC I would figure Arik would go back as well.

  • Apparently he's still transferring. He's just going back for graduate classes for the spring.

  • I think the Armstead's are done with SC. Armond is going back to finish up and then transfer in the spring. He isn't going back to play football.

  • Regardless of Armond returning, I expect they both end up out East to ND or Auburn. Armond can't transfer w/in conference.

I'll ask again, because I think it got buried in another long thread...

DT's departure likely isn't coverable in this recruiting period - it's VERY late in the year for that, BUT, 1-to-play-1 Armond would fit that scholarship timeline perfectly and would immediately be a heck of a replacement for Terrell Turner, another important, departing player.

Any chance that this extra 1 year, 1 scholarship window opens up Chip & Co.'s eyes with regards to taking Armond?

Re-read Justin's post again. He's saying Armond can't transfer to any PAC-12 school, which includes us.

  • My take on this:

Arik wanted to go to ND, but Armond was told he probably won't be cleared by their doctors. Arik doesn't really want to go to Auburn, but they told Armond they could get him cleared. Thus the delay in announcing. Wouldn't be surprising to see Armond enter the supplemental draft this summer.

I would probably agree with this, I think it was Arik liking ND and Armond liking Auburn.

I also agree with Dynasty, by the time Spring is done, he just enters the NFL. Auburn isn't going to wait around IMO.

I don't believe that is accurate - I read the info as Armond will go back to SC this term to continue his education and will reevaluate things after, but I could be wrong.

If academically eligible, a student can opt to change graduate degrees at any point, so I don't see why the rule would be different for athletes. As I understand it, Armond would simply need to transfer to Oregon and be enrolled in a program that SC does not offer...

The Pac-12 rule, which supersedes the NCAA rule, states that a graduate student-athlete cannot transfer within the conference.
