Armstead switches Cal visit to official

  • Hope this tweet isn't bad news. He's going there with Shaq and several other guys. Biggins also tweeter cal/Oregon visited him back to back tonight. Now I'm falling for all the silliness on this site...
Cali two way lineman Arik Armstead has changed his unofficial visit to Cal this weekend to an official visit per his father Gus

  • Greg Biggins just told me that he thinks ND is very high on his list as well...as long as he doesn't go to Cal I'll be happy!

I agree... I would rather see him in an Oregon jersey but if not... then not having to play him would be great!

Let's also remember earlier he tweeted about talking to a #1 recruit that played for Oregon... I seriously am just going to wait this whole thing out now.. Remember some line about a marathon and not a sprint!soapbox

  • Call me crazy but I actually think we get Arik. The fact that his dad Guss and T-Mitch's dad are friends definitely helps. I think he realizes there is instant playing time available next year along the line as long as he works hard. He likes Altman and seems to like the idea of a growing program there. So ye AA to Oregon! Who's with me?

Oh ye, I almost forgot to mention...#75 is open on defense so he could keep his uni number!

  • I wouldn't sweat this. This is worse news for Texas than us as he likely isn't going to visit there now. He probably just thought that since he had an extra official to use and was visiting Cal anyway, why not make it an official.

  • how is this news? if he takes an official visit, he gets more things to do w/ coaches, talk to professors, etc. you are allowed very little as an unofficial visitor. stop freaking out people.

I've been following Shaq, Armstead, and Cal commit Bryce Teggs on twitter and these 3 dudes are in love with each other and Teggs is doing everything short of hand jobs to get these 2 5 stars to come to Cal. I think both Shaq and Armstead go to Cal and with elite 11 QB Zach Kline already on board this would make Cal a major player in the north almost immediately.

  • I look at Cal as a black hole of performance, and if Shaq and AA end up there, then they're just getting sucked into the black hole. Tedford and his staff have a magical way of taking 4 and 5 star talent and turning it into 7 wins. These guys may be great individually, but they're going to a team that will find a way to keep them from winning the big games, and I think they'll be lucky to see better than 3rd place in the Pac-12 North anytime soon.

I can't blame a kid for wanting to go to Cal for the Academics, or for the NFL potential, but if you're going there to be a successful college football player and compete for championships, they're selling you a load of BS.

Fingers crossed that Armstead comes to his senses.

It's gonna be a roller-coaster. More pro-Oregon news will come out tomorrow and the cycle of madness will continue.

This is closer to the truth, what this hurts are the schools on the other side of the Rockies he hasn't visited. Cal is a major player for him OV or UOV, period.

  • Thanks, Nasty. I just don't get how they're able to sell underachieving so well?
