Would have been a nice fit, but I'm confident we can close with another jumbo athlete who is cut from the same mold.

Only thing that bothers me is how many times did Hooper say he wanted to visit Oregon and than he cant wait another week to pull the trigger?! Madness!

This hurts but Hooper was in the same position as Duarte for me. He has alot of potential and talent and would fit well in our offense, but it s not a position of need for us. Pry one reason why he didn't choose the Ducks.

Even when Stanford wasnt killing it on field they usually beat Oregon for guys both teams were competing for.
I remember an interview Bellotti gave when he was coach, talking about back than how hard it was to win recruiting battles with Stanford now a lot worse

It's certainly a miss for Oregon. He hadn't visited Eugene yet, but the coaches really liked what he could have been able to prove either on offense or defense. There's still Durham Smythe out there, however he could easily join Hooper at Stanford...Hooper was a big (though not necessarily vital) target that came off the board today for the Ducks.

Anybody know if Stanford is taking him as a TE or as a DE?

They definatly need to replenish their te position.

Ya, it looked up for a bit last week, and now back to the ho-hum of all the Duck recruits committing elsewhere.

Not gonna be super excited if they just finish with the crumbs.

I hate to be THAT guy....but people say we'll always be ok and we always finish strong. Well...what is happening here? Granted...behind the scenes stuff can happen, but usually I hear about it in SOME way. Just wondering what's happening here. A lot of misses for the Ducks. One by one, the uncommitted recruits on everybody's list here and on scout commit somewhere else....they make a new list, and those kids go elsewhere too.

Still about three weeks to go, but the strong recruiting finish is getting harder and harder to see. it is hard to fathom that of the following recruits that all looked plausible just 3-4 weeks ago:

Etuale
Hinnant
Duarte
McQuay
Ross
Hooper
Oser (this one is not feeling good to me either)

that the 12-1 Fiesta Bowl Champions (and defending Rose Bowl Champions), #2 team in the country have come up snake eyes.

The road to 19-20 commits, without having to take another 2-3 projects, has gotten pretty tenuous even if we do land McEvoy and maybe Rennie Childs and Juwaan Williams. The verbals we have are terrific but we are not getting the numbers we should.

Not wanting to be a nega-Nancy, but commits are landing all over the place -- just not in Eugene. Keeping Bennett was like landing a 4-star recruit; about the only good recruiting news this weekend so far
