first, meters are longer than yards.
second, electronically timed is at least a tenth of a difference.
so... pretty close to 4.4

Plus, you have to realize that the 40y dash is run on the runner's start. The 60m is off the gun. Reaction times, by rule cannot be quicker than .1 seconds. Elite sprinters average around .15 seconds. These guys are not elite sprinters and probably have not trained their reaction times much.

It isn't a very fast time, but it's not slow.

I love that people still think Oregon reports accurate 40 times(that or we run our 40's on Stanford's field.) 2 years ago they said Maehl ran a 4.8, then at the combine he ran a 4.6 on a notoriously slow track. I don't care how hard you work, a elite conditioned athlete just isn't going to shave that much time off your 40. Oh and no way is LMJ only a couple of a hundredths faster than Jeff.

One of many reasons why people's obsession with 40 times is borderline absurd.

Are they in pads? No
Are they timed from the snap? No
Are players always indoors on a track surface? No
Does it take into account change of direction? No

Great points guys the 40 time argument always bothers me because so many things reflect your time at a given meet and you really can't compare unless everyone races on the same track and on he same day with th same conditions...so lay off these guys. They are there competing and improving their skills and speed for our track and football teams, be proud of them and support them and as far as how fast are they well that gets sorted out on the field.

Well done Dior and kelley at your FIRST meet of the season keep up the hard work.
