BREAKING: Eagles hire Chip Kelly as head coach

  • Lol...Yup.

I am surprised so many of you are comfortable promoting an offensive coordinator who didn't even call plays.

Yes he did. Read Nate Costa's CBS interview, he said Helfrich had a much larger role in the offense than most people think and he actually had a lot of control over it.

The staff is equally important as Chip. If they weren't I'd be more for Petersen, but he's not the right fit right now.

Agree, our staff deserves as much or more credit for where UO is today, then any of the last three HC. Unlike what some uneducated buckeyes think, other staff is the 2nd longest tenured staff in college.

Oh as far as being a stepping stone, Brooks was at UO 18 years, Bellotti 13, that's not the definition of stepping stone.

No offense taken at all. I understand it sucks, trust me, weve been there. Oregon has a solid foundation and will be just fine. Do you think they will really promote the OC to the Head Coach like they said they would if Kelly left?

Personally I think it would be the safe guy to go with. I wouldnt mind seeing them test the waters too though.

Bolden always appreciate the posts brutha... internal and evaluate will be the strategy.

Mullens needs to have a presser this afternoon promoting Helf to HC, and Frost to OC. Damage control. Then say we are going after Jerry Rice as receivers coach :)

+1 for being on the stick.... where the f^ck is the PR MACHINE. don't we still have one of the best J-Schools in the country. get some crisis management going up in there.... or call Nike

Interview Cam and Pellum this morning. Or the whole staff for that matter. It's a stupid law, with an easy way around it.

LMAO.... you are my hero today

I nominate YOU to be the official CRISIS MANAGER REPRESENTATIVE for 247.... now pick up the phone and tell them how it's going down

  • I think it's still just a toss-up for Wilson between Oregon and us (Ohio State). However, Meyer probably has his private jet warming up as we speak. He just spent the last 4 days pillaging Michigan, Chicago, and St. Louis. The Michigan State fans are having a melt-down. Next stop; Texas - to pluck a Duck

Natty... bro... I am going to follow your lead today. How should I feel about this?

    haha DC, :D

I gotta say, I think this is a case of good riddance. Kelly obviously wanted to go this whole time, he was just using the Ducks for a bargaining Chip.

The fact that he didn't indicate to his players or coaches that he was leaving says a lot about the man's character. He doesn't owe anything to us fans, but certainly he should respect his employer, his co-workers, and the kids he has been responsible for in some ways.

I wouldn't trust someone that chooses to act in that way.

  • As disappointing as this news is, it could be worse; much worse. We could have Kiffin.

Really? MB had us going just fine, and has a proven record of hiring great OC. Chip gets way to much credit, as did Tedford before him, for what Bellotti was able to do.

Bellotti did great things to Oregon as well. I \wasn't knocking him, but come on. Chip took us to 4 straight BCS bowls...

No way he does that without the ground work laid by Bellotti and Brooks before him. Chip is a great coach but he walked into a great situation.

Yeah you can't even compare Bellotti's accomplishments to Chip's. MB laid the foundation but Chip blew it out of the water.

I feel you here, Natty. It's a character flaw and it's also, more precisely, naked ambition. CK is probably is one the worlds' most bizarre communicators. I dunno if he ever truly reveals his inner s*** to anybody. But one thing is for certain, he wants the challenge of succeeding at the highest level and maybe the vitriol that he's gonna have to endure from us fans makes his jet exit even easier. I know lotsa folks who burn bridges to make snapping soemthing off cleaner.

That being said, this flocking sucks.

  • I still think if Oregon believes it is a top 10 program in the NCAA....which it should, then promoting an assistant is a poor move. Especially when guys like Chris Peterson would jump to this job

  • Stuff happens. Dana Altman quit as coach at Arkansas one day after he was announced and then returned to Creighton. If Chip's heart is elsewhere UO is better with a replacement. Mullen is a solid AD. Helfrich is a native son and wants to raise his young family in Eugene. The sad thing is the hit to this class of recruits. However, I would rather get sucker punched once than beat up for another year.

Question is does he keep Vick or go after another QB? Vick has big time health issues.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I doubt Vick would last very long in that offense, so he'd better go out and get tebow as a back up.

Oregon will be fine, they've reached a good consistent level of play and that nike money will help bring in a good coach, just like that money brought in the players.

  • Weeeeee.... Fight On!

In all seriousness though, I really hoped we could spank him one time before he left. I guess beating you guys at home and knocking you out of the NC in 2011 will have to suffice.

Do you have one ounce of proof? Don't sell it as fact when it's just your own speculation.
