I respect this quite a bit actually.
"Oregon sent me out here (Iowa Western) after I got back from my mission," Bair said. "I went on my mission out of high school and I've been playing here for a year. I was a couple of credits short coming out of high school which is why I had to go to a junior college. When I get to Oregon I will have four years to play three."
Four years to play three and 6'9 260 and older/more mature from the mission trip... HELL YES!
Why no one knows about him "[his fiance] graduated from Weber State which is why they offered. Utah just offered recently as well. I haven't been sending out my film or anything to any schools. It doesn't matter though, I'm going to Oregon, that's always been the plan." Key is he has always wanted to go to Oregon. He never sent out any film... He never tried to get others to go after him...!!! He didn't try to get noticed...!!! I like this a lot!

Despite the predictable message board meltdown of turning down someone with more stars, this looks like a pretty good commitment.
It's easy to see why he's off the radar considering he didn't qualify out of high school and then took a mission but his film is pretty impressive and he's bigger than his brother who was a stud for us. I'll take another Brandon Bair any day.
And being a 4 to play 3 guy makes more sense than if he was 1 for 1 considering our depth chart is stacked with juniors. He'll likely redshirt and put on some weight...and he'll probably be 24 before he ever plays a down for us. He'll be, literally, a man among boys.

Why were people saying 1 to play 1. Feel much better about this knowing he has 4 to play 3. Get his butt in the weight room.

This can't be the "mystery commit" if you think about it. Faith said his offer was pulled because the received another commitment. Stetson has been committed for a really long time so there still has to be another guy out there.

Justin - Thanks for the news. I really appreciate you keeping it under your hat for so long; I bet Stetzon was happy to avoid going through the recruiting nonsense. I am glad to see you honor your commitments. Also, its good to see our faith in Chip and Co. reconfirmed. (I have no doubt we will see the same process next year -- freak-out to relief to joy in a matter of days.)
