This is AWESOME. Can't wait for this bruiser to get in the backfield.
DWill or Tra as the big back?
In Chip We Trust
This will be great if we want to line him up in front of LMJ, Lache, D-Will, etc., the option to give to the big FB/HB and smash it through, or have him clear a path for the HB is a nice one to have that we didnt really see much this year.
our stable is blowing my mind right now i can't even imagine what our rotation is going to be next year with huff, lmj, kenjon, lache, dwill and maybe tra all being viable starters!
I am getting the feeling on Tra, that this is one of those 'secret' guys that we seem to find for our system that are located away from the big cities. Kinda get the same feeling about Mariota as well. Spider sense, due to what we have been doing with recruiting lately, tells me this guy is a bit faster, stronger and smarter than your average 3 star kid and is likely underrated. These are great gets as they have been largely overlooked by schools and national rankings and really gravitate to teams that give them offers first. If he commits I expect him to redshirt and learn.
Tra could seriously blow up over the next few months...
Tra made 1st team all state according to him on his facebook. That's legit right there in Texas.
Really excited to get the big fella, I know on the Iowa site they where very excited to have him visit. To me he really seems to have a little more speed then he looks like he should have, maybe a faster Blount.
Watched his video for the 2nd time... man among boys. For a thunder back Carson has amazing cutback skills and LaMichaelesque jukes. I'm as excited for him as any of our commits and admittedly a bit impatient waiting for the 'official' commit. Brendon who?

On Scout, they hadn't even evaluated Tra until a couple weeks ago. One of their scouts was asked about him in a chat and didn't even know who he was. He went and did the eval. Gave him a 91 rating and said he would be recommending 4*. Said he was easily one of the top 3 rbs in the state of Texas and whoever got him would be getting a steal.
The difference between his junior films and his senior films is amazing...and he wasn't bad as a junior. He finished this year with over 2000 yards and 24 tds...pretty darn good. Broke most of LMJ's records at their HS...and that's even better.
bingo! nice post oldduck. This is a coaching difference not a recruiting thing. It is interesting that everyone wants perfect player evals, but IMO, it would make predictions much more accurate in the model and place less of a need on coaching.
While the evals are very nice and useful, I find it especially wonderful seeing an otherwise overlooked kids given a chance to hit it big. Its like big wrapped christmas presents full of potential. It is just as great sitting in the stands watching the stewarts and Ngatas as it is the Ungers and Chungs. Go Ducks!
Newsflash- Softy from KUWSUX just said over the air that Tra Carson will actually be moving with his family to Seattle and commit to the Huskies, at that time Scout will make him a 7* prospect...possibly 8*.
