Civil War could be nasty

  • I am one that doesn't like to look too far ahead but at times do and this is one of those times.

The Ducks are sky high right now and have a tough game this week against rival Washington and battles against Cal and Arizona before the Beavers. Getting those three wins might be easy but also will be ones the Ducks will have to work tough for wins.

The Beavers have a down UCLA team this coming weekend in LA and then play WSU which should be an easy when for them as well since it is at home.

Then the Beavers get USC at home and I think after last night's win the Trojans won't be fighting for much anymore and the Beavers clip them as well. The game against Stanford will be tough but if the Beavers beat the Cardinal on the road, who will be top 10, the Beavers should find themselves back into the top 20 and a date with probable #1 Oregon for the civil war.

This is where it gets interesting.

Oregon wins out and Oregon is off to the title game.

Oregon State wins and the Beavers not only take the Ducks out of the Title game but should the beavers win out they'd knock the Ducks out of the Rose Bowl as well.

Oregon would most likely go to the Fiesta Bowl but none the less the stakes could be very very high!

  • The key is that Oregon has a bye between the Cal game and the UA game. With that I think the game might be close, but with that bye, I think we win out if we get passed UW and Cal. One game at a time, and CK will keep them focused IMO.

  • I had the same scenario in my head, but Stanford will beat OSU, so I think we'll be OK.

  • Regardless of OSU's record at the time of the Civil War, that game is going to be a tough hard fought game. There are a lot of players on that Beavers team, not to mention their entire fanbase that would love to be the ones to take us out of the National Title Picture. In fact I would bet that most of them hope that we DO run the table because if anyone takes us out they want it to be themselves. That is going to be a great game, I don't think they have the horses to keep up with us but it is the Civil War and lots of crazy things can happen in December......

  • i don't want to jinx us at all, but if you've watched OSU this year you know they have a major weakness on D, and it's not a weakness a team wants to have playing against this UO team. Their major problem, it lack of speed on D. I know OS will be motivated, but....

  • i agree with jsaund. the beavers have not looked as good on offense as last year either and unless katz can step up the passing game i just cant see them being able to keep up with us offensively without a defense that can possibly hope to contain us

  • I think Barkley can hook up with Woods and Johnson all over the field on the beavs and I can't believe that with so much at stake, that Stanford would lose to them at home. The more losses the beavs pick up between now and the time we play them, the better!

    Go Bruins!
