Matt, any prediction on where Gordon ends up?
I think Matt knows something that he can't tell us yet, whether it be good or bad re: Aaron Gordon. I think it's best to just be patient and find out in two days, Matt has been pretty quiet on the Gordon front.
I understand the decision has been made and when he told his parents they were "shocked". I think maybe Evan Daniels reported this. In a crazy unbelievable way it appears Andrew Wiggins is on the verge of announcing UK giving Calipari the #1 ranked recruit at each of the five positions in this class. Last night at a McDonald's pick up game Wiggins joined future Cats Randle, Young, and the twins and they beat an all star team that included Jabari Parker and Gordon by 35.
SteveJones_CJ: Aaron Gordon said he made up his mind 4-5 weeks ago and has already committed to the coach.
Would Altman and crew still be pushing hard and going to his games etc if he had already verbaled to Arizona? Im not sure.
Wiggins is unreal ...
Wiggins really is. He is so athletic that everything is smooth and effortless. He is either Baby 'Bron or the Canadian Jordan. Gordon is very elite though and would be awesome in Green and Yellow. Fingers crossed....
Conversely, since we're hearing that Gordon had already made up his mind 4-5 weeks ago and if his choice wasn't Oregon, why would Altman still be pursuing him? Hmmmm...We'll just find out on Wednesday.
And why would Gordon be watching our games? Couple days...
Plus matt did say lapray may grey shirt. Reading between the lines plus the silence, it seems that there may be a good article coming wednesday. This feels much different than Bennett last year.
Maybe because he just wants to watch his buddy play? I agree that it would seem that the coaches still feel like they are in it for him, but maybe he told Zona that he was going there and didn't tell Coach Altman of his decision? Who knows, at least we will all find out on Wed. Not feeling good about it though, if he really made his decision up a month ago this stuff usually gets out by now, ala Cameron Hunt. And, there have been rumors that he told Sean Miller he was coming.
and to pile on...why would UO be practicing at his HS!
Gordon has announced he will be attending Harvard on an academic scholarship ...
" My hands are sore and my knees ache. Rather than walk like an old man I've decided to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a proctologist." ... A. Gordon
If I forgot to thank you in my post, my apologies and thanks in advance for your understanding.
I agree MBG. I also believe that if a kid declares for the draft and doesn't get drafted he should be able to enroll in college
His parent's were surprised by his choice, supposedly. And if he added the Ducks back into his top schools after initially dropping them, Oregon would most definitely be a surprise.
I wouldn't get my hopes up, but aside from rumors saying he's headed to AZ...What other info do we have that says he's going there?
BTW, Gordon's announcement has been moved from Wednesday to Tuesday morning at 9:35 AM PST. I, too, wonder about the 4-5 week report as Aaron was still talking to Calipari up until the day Randle announced.
Here is the way I see it. Cook took the last Scollie available without someone grey shirting. Cook seems to have a very similar skill set as Gordon. As far as us practicing at Gordon's school, that very well could be that DA has a ongoing relationship with the coach their due to our recruitment of Gordon, and it was close to HP Pavilion. So back to original point, my guess due to Cook we are not Gordon's choice. It could very well be that I am wrong, and Lapray will gray shirt. Hope I am wrong.
Found this on the Zona board...
Pensé que a los Ducks los había descartado. Ahora que veo que no lo ha hecho, pensadlo. Dominic Artis, Damyean Dotson, Aaron Gordon. Buf.
I thought the Ducks had discarded. Now I see that you have not done, Think about it. Dominic Artis, Damyean Dotson, Aaron Gordon. Buf.
No greyshirt required because someone will transfer this offseason. I guarantee it.
Cook is a 6-6 Wing, i.e., a 2-3 (more 3, than 2, right now) ...

I agree it looks promising, but just playing devils advocate: what if he only told the coach he had committed to and not the coaches from the other schools?
My take is that Matt was initially optimistic and there was a "guy" who told Matt we looked good at one point.
Then the Zona rumors come out started by Elridge Recasner a Husky..
so there is a lot of smoke but throughout Matt is quiet for the most part but still inculding the possibility of adding Gordon in his next year preview
Then there is this 'surprise' when telling his parents the choice which argues against a blud blood program...
It would be easy for Matt to diffuse the situation by telling us we are out, but he has kep quiet and on-committal to possibly let the kid have his moment (Matt has always protected his sources)- this is only powers of deduction tainted by my hope Gordon=Ducks but I am liking our chances here!!
