Penn State backed out of their game with UVA this year and we are hearing that Oregon is in talks with UVA to take the place of PSU for Sept 14. Has anyone over here heard anything.
That would be fun
If true, that's the weekend Tennessee is supposed to come.
Are you talking about 2014? Oregon doesn't play Portland State this year.
"They're going to be loud from the first snap until the last snap. They are right on top of you and they're just relentless." -Barry Alvarez
PSU= Penn State university
No I mean 2013, and the game would be at UVA. A poster on our UVA site that has connections within the Oregon AD said that Oregon is sending a few reps to UVa in a few days to set this up. Also, PSU does equal Penn State University. lol. Sorry for the confusion.
Yeah, sorry. I misread that.
Doesn't seem likely, as it's very unusual to substitute a home game for an away game, especially after the schedule's been announced.
Didn't Nevada want out of our game there? I could see that date being replaced.
No buzz on the Ducks scheduling Virginia from what i've heard. Tennessee is our big OOC game next year and we very much want to host an SEC team in our house.
AJ on rivals (publisher) talked about this so there must be something to it.
I've been checking on this for a few weeks now and there is some merit to it. That said I'm told it's sort of a multi part deal, meaning everyone has to be satisfied for there to be no buy outs for anyone..... So essentially one will assume Penn State and Nevada will play if Oregon and UVA move forward.
Def. a key tipping point now that UVA and PSU have cancelled however.

Idk we already have an away game... At Nevada on the 7th or something. I would love to not play Nichols state tho
as jhop noted... this would be in place of Nevada.
This game would on the 7th right, so we keep Tennessee intact as well?
I think that's the idea! Tennessee, Virginia, and an FCS isn't too shabby if this does indeed work out.
I'm confused. This open spot on UVA's schedule is Sept 14-the date we play TN. UVA was supposed to play at PSU, BTW.
Please please please let this be true. Going to grad school at VaTech and that would be a short easy drive over to UVA to watch this game.
Well it seems like there is something going on here to set this up. I believe we have BYU coming into town on Sept 7th but maybe they can find a way to change. I think it would be awesome to play Oregon, even though it would surely be a loss for us. Lol.
According to this site (99% correct I have found), y'all have BYU on 8/31, so you have two free weekends now with 9/7 and 9/14 (loss of Penn State).
The 2013 Virginia Cavaliers Football Schedule features games against Penn State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
OK now I see. They are open on the 7th and the 14th.
This would be cool, though no doubt a drubbing. Hope it comes together, because it would be exciting to see the Ducks in Scott Stadium.
By the way, I've become a bit of an Oregon fan over here on the East Coast. Typically pull for you guys to do well, love watching the Blur, etc.
Quick question: What do you guys think about Virginia? What are your honest impressions of our football program?
Hi Kendall... good question. I think I have a higher opinion than most of the UVA program (you guys are one of the few programs I root for in the ACC). And while the team has never been consistently superb, you have generated some high quality players: Chris Long, Matt Schaub, Thomas Jones, Branden Albert, Ahmad Brooks, James Farrior, D'Brickshaw Ferguson, etc.
Clearly, you are struggling in the current moment, and given the current conditions and recruiting bases of the ACC members, it may be a struggle for you guys to consistently stay at the top of the conference without donor support (just as it would have been for us without Phil Knight). That said, I think you have a decent if unspectacular tradition, a generally solid fanbase, and a program that with the right coaching staff (no idea if Mike London is it) and support that could be on the rise. I certainly don't see Virginia on the schedule and automatically think, "pushover."
UVA has a great campus, Charlottesville is a nice and historically-rich area, and the Cavaliers are certainly a team for which I'll continue to root! I hope this works out- maybe a home-and-home!
Well being that I go to Tech for grad school I hate you guys actually I don't care at all cause I bleed green and yellow, though Tech games are fun.
That being said, I have always felt like you guys just didn't have an administration that has really gotten behind your athletics. UVA is an amazing academic school and that was known even growing up on the West Coast, but it always seemed to me that athletics were a FAR second to the academic part, which is perfectly fine. Just always seemed like the school didn't really care about sports and that is why there were mostly irrelevant. I say this in regards to the big 2 (football and basketball) as I know y'all dominate in other stuff like lacrosse (I'm a huge Wahoo lax fan)
Never understood why they couldn't be the furd of the east coast.
The administration is starting to come around. There are some pro sports people in high places finally. Approving the new indoor facility that will be done in time for spring ball was a huge step forward.
For Kendall and PG Hoo: A visit to Charlottesville for the game and area visit would be huge for this Duck fan. What is the game day atmosphere like? With your long history I would expect some of the atmosphere of the The Grove down at Ol Miss. Or is it more tailgate party time?
