Interesting....Just hope lil' Kiffy wins just enough to stay there for awhile longer, although I think he's gone either when or soon after their sanctions are over.
Soooooo fu$c won't be in the pac 12 championship game this year either......????? Awwwwwwe shucks! :-)
Some pretty damming quotes for kiffin.
Old news. Barkley's quotes say a lot about him as well. I wouldn't be surprised if his draft stock goes further south.
I was kind of thinking that, too... it's like talking bad about your former employer at an interview: it's just not smart.
Matt Barkley is not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Those guys have won a lot of games, and if there's some sort of void in leadership and/or clash with a coach, I think they're justified in stepping up.
Matt Barkley is a 22 year-old that did not win that many games at USC.
We can talk all we want about Kiffin's failings (and they are many and fun to talk about) but I don't know that the answer to USC's woes would have been Barkley writing his own gameplan.
Barkley's bust rate odds are over 90% based on QBs drafted since 2004. Nice try but dumping your lack of success in that talent rich program on Lame in spite of a crappy coach is weak sauce.
Wrong school, bad coach effect. Would have been better off anywhere on the West Coast but USC

Loved this breakdown you did Bartoo. Great job.

We can nail Kif for a lot of things. He deserves some heat. Perhaps his biggest mistake last year was putting to much faith in his "star" quarterback.
I like that "Weak Sauce" line Dave. Good Analogy Boss +
I wouldnt draft a USC QB in the 7th round of the CFL draft. The So Cal entitlement syndrome is real. Barkely could be the poster child, but he'll have to work really hard to catch Leinart.
Teams reach on QBs all the time. Just having those 2 letters by your name moves you up 2-3 rounds. Jake Locker anyone? lol

Dave nice to see you reappear on the board. Great comment/fact as always. Don't be a stranger. We know your busy running your own site but check in a few times a week OK?
I check in all the time bro. This was the first site that welcomed my posts and specifically my links (JHop). Since I'm not all Ducks all the time, a lot of what I write/talk about doesn't fit here. My 'real' work and the CFBMatrix site (and just hit radio show #250 last week), along with my new private consulting for CFB programs chews up the hours.
But being a Duck and season tix holder makes me a constant lunker here. I have always appreciated the support of you and so many other here on DT.
Go Ducks! - Bartoo
You better be consulting for the Ducks. And if I get wind you are consulting for Washington, I will find you...
I consult for those that want the analytics. If Oregon passes and UW wants it, its not my fault. I will admit it will be very strange seeing a client you work beat your alma mater. And if you find me I will bribe you with duck tix, free beer and BBQ.
Hahah. That would definitely work!
Oregon should just put you on staff full time. Is Bill James your uncle?
Interesting. I have always wondered how much programs are open to statistical breakdowns, kinda like a what happened to baseball in the early 2000s. I have a stereotypical image of the old school coach who believes in blood, sweat and tears as the only way to win ... My question to you is do you find more acceptance and innovation at smaller schools that need to adapt to survive (Boise State, TCU etc), or do the large schools embrace too?
USC is like a german car, every piece that breaks is of the highest quality.
They are all trying to do something. Many think they are doing a lot when they are behind the curve. I can say that fans have little idea as to what is really happening and the effort these guys make every day. The big schools are becoming the most advanced at using analytics. I have been in meetings with entire FB coaching staffs going over analytic strategy. Everyone looks at it or buys into pieces differently. Baseball is very easy as it is very measurable one on one match ups. With FB its 22 guys moving every play.
I'd trade my work for backstage passes and comped season tix. Speaking of which anyone want to get in on my tix? Got 4 and am not making games much anymore. Was thinking group of 6-8 fans getting 3-4 pairs of game tix for the year.
I'd be in if I hadn't already ordered my tix.
Dave, great to see you again!
I assume you've heard of / read Frank Dupont's Game Plan. He laid out some interesting ideas for how to use analytics.
