Fun read over on ESPN.
Sorry if you are not able to read it.
With the 19 players signed last week, Oregon landed some players who might remind their fans of former Ducks. Of all the great running backs the Duck
For those of us can't read it could you give us a few of the comparisons please and thanks
Anyway you could copy and paste that article here.
I believe that is illegal
Some obvious ones like Prevot to Dion( in KRowes's body) and Brenner, though smaller, to Grassu. Benoit toWhitehead I hadn't thought of. Mundt as a Peele/Rosario combo. Seisay to Gildon. Pisarcik to Fisher.
Prevot reminds me of Bruce Irvin from West Virginia, and now the Seahawks.
DV me, whatevs...that was some serious insider info!
I have to delete your post, Jriv. While this may not be "insider" in nature, we still don't want to set a precedent of copying and pasting other sites work here.
I understand, no problem. I think this is a cool thread though, posters should make their own comparisons.
Prevot as Kadu or BoLo makes more sense to me.
I think Hunt as York might be good too.
Hobbs to Chris Harper is a slam dunk. Devon Allen to Sammie Parker because of the raw speed. Darron Carrington to Jeff Maehl because they're both really smooth good leaping pass catchers. Tyner to nobody. The size and speed, just doesnt match any other Ducks. Picarsik to Fisher is also a slam dunk.
Benoit reminds so much of Maurice Morris its weird. Believe their builds are very similiar too.
What about Tyner to Jay Stew? Close?
I think J-Stew is the only former Duck who is even close to Tyner in terms of athleticism, size, and ability. However, I think Tyner is faster and shiftier than J-Stew, while Stewart was a little more powerful but also less fluid. This is the closest Duck comp, but I don't even think J-Stew does justice to the potential that Tyner has.
I think the best comparison for Tyner is not a former Duck but definitely a former great player; Eric Dickerson. If you watch Dickerson run in college he had the speed like Tyner that destroys defender's pursuit angles with the very smooth running style that makes it look easy. Dickerson also played in an offense that spread the carries around to several backs. Hopefully Tyner is able to make this comparison valid when he hits the field at Autzen.
I know people might be worried about the drop end position but i think someone will step up as always. People might not realize that Kenny Rowe had 6 more sacks in 2 years then Dion yet Dion is going to be a top pick because of his height and athleticism. Just because you might not be suited for the NFL like Rowe doesn't mean you cant have a bigger impact in college then someone who is. Each of the candidates to replace DJ have their strengths and weaknesses. French has all the size and athleticism but might lack that killer instinct. Washington has the pass rushing ability but probably lacks the athleticism to be effective in coverage. Prevot has what you want but will be a true freshman and Carriger or who ever else might play the position are unknown. With all these question i'm still confident it will be a strong position on our defense as it always has.
I wouldn't mid some 4-3 looks either, AA-Wade-Hart-Buckner, gotta get your best players on the field.
This might be prudent on first downs, goal line, and against pro style teams.
I think JStew was more than close in all those things . Also, based on HS reels alone JS was light years more powerful. Tough to tell with Tyner as he's always just blazing past everyone, not to mention it looks like he's been playing against 14 year-old girls.
But through the homer goggles I'm seeing more OJ than Dicker
Tyner reminds me of Bo Jackson out of high school. Watch his film from school.
JStew, Bo Jackson, Dickerson, OJ... dang. I hope the kid is that kind of special.
OJ wasn't that good. He was a JC transfer.
How about Mattingly to Alonso?
Walker to Matthews
Carrington to D Williams
Tyner to Renfro
Seisay to Thurmond III
J Williams to Byrd
I agree with what someone else said about Hunt to York too
Win The Day
I have been seeing a little Bo in Tyner too. Their measurables are very similar. I would say Bo had more power and Tyner has a little more quickness. The sky is the limit for mister Tyner.
People sell Rueben Droughns way short. At 6 210, he had all the traits Tyner has, but he also had great strength. If he didn't break his leg vs UCLA, he would have had 2000 yds and 30 tds. IMO if he stayed healthy he would have been the best rb to come out of UO. That's the guy I compare Tyner to, not JStew.
Tyner more quickness than Bodacious?!
This thread has officially come off the rails
Tyner will never come close to Bo, never, ever, not by any measure, not by any metric, not on any any level as a football player or as an athlete.
