I drive cab in Eugene and drove an Oregon assistant coach to the airport on sat morning. I asked him about the CK/NFL rumors and was told not to worry. He said that Chip talked to the whole coaching staff and said "My heart is here(Oregon) and I am not pursuing any other jobs". He went on to say that he would entertain any offers because it was the right thing to do, but that he could not foresee any offer that could change his mind. I know, I know; just hearsay, but encouraging, no?
Does not sound trollish to me, unless its the king of trolls!
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....... "the right thing to do" .............. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Lol. If this is trolling, it's the epitome of epic. I want to believe this double heresay so bad.
I've had this feeling all along. Chip seems like a guy with strong values and i think he really enjoys working with those kids. All in all though it's not from his mouth so who really knows. Imo he stays and yes you can quote me on that.
"The right thing to do" makes me think he doesn't want to pull a Petey Carroll and roll out with sanctions pending. Or he doesn't want to bail on the kids he's personally recruited and made commitments to. Who knows? I want to believe this story, but I can't put too much into it. Hopefully it's true and Chip is here to stay for awhile.

Enjoy Life, it has an expiration date.
Hoping this is as good as the info about Mariota being the starter leaked this summer......
I'll bite, me three :-)
Lol. I doubt an assistant coach is going to run gis mouth to a Cabbie about such things.
If an NFL team makes Chip an offer he can't refuse I say we send in Oregon's ultimate secret weapon to convince him to stay: De'Anthony Thomas giving him the sad puppy dog look.
I've seen all the speculation.. He wants "more of a challenge".. "More money".. "East Coast is his home"
this story may be true or not.. but I don't think it really matters. Chip loves Oregon. He has his system set here. He has a dynasty running right now. He's built one of the best programs in the nation. The only thing I can see is maybe.. MAYBE for more money.. but Chip doesn't seem like that type of guy. Does anyone remember awhile back when chip was emailed after the Boise game about how disappointed the person was in how our team performed and wanted a refund.. And chip sent him a check refunding his trip in full and personally apologizing for the performance?
I just don't think Chip leaves imo.
Chip wouldn't just be the man if he stayed. He would be the most awesome guy in the history of the state. Chip = FDR. FDR for coach!
how about he wins a natty first before he needs a bigger challenge.
This might sound bitter but the first challenge should be get a kicker. Challenge two recruit a dominate Players(on D specifically). 3 Win a natty. 4 can you do it again? If you can do that leave for the nfl
Not that I want CK to leave, I would love for him to be an Oregon lifer: But how long do you guys think Helfrich and Frost stay as assistants if Kelly remains as HC. I know the staff has years of continuity, but these 2 seem like they are climbing the coaching ladder and will both eventually be HC's somewhere. I would expect Helfrich to be a HC within 2 years. Hopefully, CK stays at Oregon and Helfrich goes on to dominate somewhere in the sec while jeopardizing the safety of all the players down there with the uptempo spread.
