The Ducks have asked Churchill high school senior quarterback Mitch Reese to walk-on at Oregon after a great career that had Reese throw for 2,000 yards 18/8 TD/INTs and another 700 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns as a senior. Reese played at the same high school that former Oregon receiver Justin Hoffman played at and then walked on at Oregon and eventually earned a scholarship. Reese was hearing from multiple FCS programs. Reese is 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds and is a dual-threat quarterback that ran an offense somewhat similar to the spread.
Here are his senior highlights on Hudl
Reese informed me this morning of his decision to play at Oregon as it has been a dream of his for awhile.
Oregon's been very active in asking players around the NW to walk on the last few days.

He shouldn't expect any PT during his career as a Duck, but he will be a Duck and part of a winning team. QB depth is moy importante even if it is a walk-on. Good for Mitch. He gets to be on his dream school and the experience alone should be worth it for him regardless of playing or not.
I love the effort that CK and staff have been making to invite some of these talented local guys to walk on. I think it's great for both the team and the kids.
Thanks for the info Matt.

At that size, it's conceivable they could transition him to another position. If he's got good speed and the work ethic for it, he could potentially get on the field as a good-blocking WR down the road...
If I was a walk-on and looked at the history of Oregon I would absolutely expect playing time as this kid does. No D1 player joins thinking they won't get playing time. I suspect he will have a scholarhsip NLT his (RS) Junior Year at the latest. The staff and him must feel that once Mariota leaves he has a chance to compete for a starting job. One thing about Walk-ons is they seem to work harder and have as much or more heart then anyone else on the team.
Dustin Haines, the walk-on QB from Sourh Eugene has had a little bit of playing time so I expect any QB that is offered a walk on position will have the opportunity to get on the field if they work hard.
Practically everyone on this board would walk on if asked. Besides Rose, Fiesta, PAC-12 championship and possible BCS Championship rings look real nice.
6'3". Good height. Should be a visible target with the cue card in his hands.
I kid. Glad to see local guys get a shot to play for the Ducks.
