Agreed. With the team in the top 5 with one loss and headed to a great bowl I can see why people are so grouchy ;-)
I had no idea that its all the recruiting coordinators fault for not developing the talent. Makes so much sense to me now, all this time i thought it was the coaches fault. Thanks for the intel sir.
What does being a man have to do with impulsively posting one word?
If your confused you should post that.
Seriously people, we have one of the best coaching staffs n the nation and to claim that we are not good at recruiting is silly.
Have we not pulled some o the biggest and best names these past three years?
We were all up in arms when these kids made early pledges to th Trojans and now their class is crumbling!
Many said we need to change our tactics-right, so our class could crumble too?!?
Now we are eing selective because we can and many are still not satisfied?
Just sit back and enjoy the ride and please try to think rationally about all this info coming out now.
Yup that was me again.
We don't have a recruiting coordinator.
Our coaches recruit AND coach!
We try to bring in good kids who work hard, and go to class, stay out of trouble, AND have talent.
Are you questioning that now too?
This is the only thing that makes sense to me. If they really are passing on Redfield, the staff has something up we don't know about. Silent McQuay would make sense.
Seriously! This board needs to lighten up. Things aren't that bad. In fact, they are extremely good!
I get down voted left and right, often for no apparent reason. The tone and culture of this board needs a prozac or something.
People freaking out over this: it's going to be okay. Look at it this way, if we are closing the page on a recruit of this quality we must have someone that the staff views as very, very good already committed or ready to commit.
Those of you throwing down votes at everyone. Chill out. Go hug your wife or something.
Our Ducks are in probably the most anticipated bowl game of the season besides the BCS championship game. Some would argue the Fiesta bowl will be more exciting.
Once again, I see this turn of events as a positive. If we're turning away recruits like Redfield, we must have some good news coming our way.
Stay positive folks. It's a great time to be a Duck!

Nope, didnt question anything, just said confused and dumb. Never asked for a reasoning. As far as staying out of trouble, we have had our problems with that. But, this isnt about current players, this thread is about redfield.
Thought McQuay wanted to commit at the AAA game?
Pleae don't take offense to this DLefty, but we offered Redfield so obviously we wanted him at one point so it makes sense for people(myself included) to be angry or confused by thr staff moving on from him.
For me it has nothing to do with stars, but I'm very good at rrcognizing talent and and reading tons of articles to see if the kids we recruit are of good character which MR is. I'm not defending Mamba or attacking you, but the staff obviously liked Redfield alot because he was offerered early and he's a 4-5 star. Same with Vanderdoes, LMIII, Tyner, Wilson, Mitchell, etc, etc.... Just saying.
And no offense, but if SC had good coaching they would be scarey good with all their five stars. Of course a five star next to your namr doesn't guarantee you're going to be a star, but usually the recruiting analysts are pretty right on in their observations. You don't think the UO staff would want all the 5* kids they offered? Of course they would.
I know almost everyone loves the guys with many stars and Redfield def fits, especially after today with getting his 5th star from Rivals but...
In reading his quotes I never got the impression Oregon held him in as high regard as people here.
To tell him he had to decommitt to visit was and is nonsense, look at who has visited and been committed elsewhere ,than to put off his visit for months, I'm sorry that alone tells me he isnt high priority, people wanted to cling to notion that its better to have him come in later so they can give him more attention, was not true.
Oregon focusing its energy elsewhere may drive people crazy but it is what it is
J-Hop probably already has the article typed up on McQuay but is just waiting Leon to make it public.
I'm sorry but I must've missed the part where Oregon asked him to decommit in order to visit us or is it an assumption since we 'don't let committed players visit'? Was that specifically said by him or did he say that to a mod? If so, I must've missed it.
Obviously they aint that high on Redfield or they would be going after him. They are putting their time and energy into the others. Chip will close the deal. Moving on!
Haven't sided with KOD too often, but in this case, I'm feeling his frustration.
I normally don't get too excited one way or the other with any particular player etc, but the way our staff is handling Redfield makes me feel like they are a bunch of wimps who can't stand it if a player they covet likes someone else just as much or more. Did they just expect Max to come gifted wrapped under the tree with some big green & yellow bow? To tell a player that they feel he's favoring another school too much so he can't trip in just sounds absolutely absurd to me. He doesn't strike me at all like an Eddie Vanderdoes who's all over the map (and we're not on it).
Sure it's entirely possible that they may be reading Max right and if they bother tripping him in it may not matter in the end and he'll opt for ND. So what if he does? Every coach on this staff knows that football is a game of struggle and great effort to get the results you want. But the way we're handling some recruits it appears like we don't view many as if the struggle for their signature is worth the fight. Unless they only want to come here really badly then they're not worth the effort? I've followed recruiting closely for 30 yrs and the lists of kids that previous staffs have had to really grind it out for is too long to list. Sure those previous staffs didn't have what CK & Co. have now so they had to grind, but in end you can bet those same kids were sure glad they persevered.
Now I know the easy retort is to reply with the "staff knows what it's doing" and "they certainly know way more about the kids than any msg board fans do", etc. I would not argue with that assertion at all. However, it is very plain that this staff's recruiting philosophy, though I agree with it in many ways, does at times appear like they don't want to get down in the mud at all when it comes to getting kids' signatures. It's somehow beneath them and the only players worth it to become future Ducks are those who only have eyes for us and never waver from that. I know that's an oversimplification, but in Redfield's case, it sure feels like giving up and I'd be willing to bet that there won't be some other DB commit come next week.

Argreed. I tend to vent via a few posts and get my frustraition out and then I quickly move on. Already over it. Hopefully we get some good news about a DB commiting in the near future. Preferably LMIII, because regardless of his lofty ranking, the kid is a fricking baller!!!
Aww don't you have some brown nosing to do to gather more inet buddies? Holla at "chaboy" homey!!! "Yup yup, yup." :) Lol.
