"Release Me Cuhhhhhhhh"
Negative, i won't post it again, no need to see your crying expression again.
You're getting it twisted. Just because I feel we could do a tad bit better in recruiting doesn't mean I'm bitching. I just feel when it comes to putting in a little effort with certain kids, that it can't hurt. Perhaps, it is what will put us over that line we haven't crossed yet and that's to win a NC. Isn't that the goal and what we all want for our kids and the school? Trust me, I'm fine with 11-1 seasons and Fiesta Bowl appearences, but I'd like to see a 13-0 season and a NC victory and if that means busting ass on the recruiting trail to get that defensive player or two to get us there then get it done son. Ya' feel me cuz?
Naw, not mad, but insanely jealous. I want to be you. Btw I hope you realize I'm being sarcastic and just playing. I have no issues with you Jriv except that you're the coolest guy on the board and I want to be :)
Lol, +1 . Kevin hart is back in the house.
Last time I checked, Oregon staff gets paid a lot of money to coach and recruit.. And you pay to write about what there doin wrong, doesn't seem to Jive, everyone has an option , but not everyone has to be negative about the way Oregon has there winning ways
I know. I vent in my own impulsive, opinionated way, but I mean no harm. Peace, pot and microdots brother bear. Eugene style!!!
And that's my whole gig. I don't know if it reflects the coaches or not because of the lack of info straight from the source(coaches) so I jump to assumptions and play the guessing game. Perhaps, I need to put mom to the side and talk to my therapist about acceptance and patience. Lol.
i'm so disappinted.... i really wanted Max.... :(
Lol. Obviously you haven't been here too long. I'm actually know to be the enthusiastic, optimist on this board, but I occassionally vent. I am far from negative, but sometimes I get a little agro.
I can appreciate your passion for the DUCKS buddy
Power to the people +1
keep it coming KOD -- I found your commentary and fact gathering insightful
Oregon will be fine. I'm just a little bummed because I really like max's game but oh well. On field results speak for themselves
WHAT ARE WE YELLING ABOUT!?!?!?
No but for real, this is frustrating. If for no other reason than nobody has any idea wth is going on this year. I guess we'll see what happens over the next couple months.
"Damn it, ag123 is posting in this thread. Better be prepared for another essay-long diatribe on Oregon football!" - Yup!
Yikes. You know how they say, "honesty is the best policy"? Well I have to be honest here with all you guys here on the board... most of the comments in this thread are not a good look! Wouldn't we all benefit from a nice cold brew and just relaxing and enjoying the 11-1 season for a couple more weeks? Let's not be so quick to pass judgment on this recruiting cycle. I've posted here and followed recruiting a little bit for a couple of years now. There's some things I've learned and I'll share them briefly. I don't expect any of you to agree but please just take my comments for what they're worth and give me some feedback about what you think.
1. Sometimes it takes courage to do things differently.
The recruiting approach of our coaching staff is frustrating and noticeably different than most other football programs. As is the case with young Mr. Redfield, we all tend to react and ask, "why'd the coaches do that"? My personal belief is that they have a goal of changing the perception and value of our program and that they are willing to trade recruiting "losses" in the short-run for their long-term goal of recruiting victories. The status quo as we know is that certain programs dominate the recruiting scene due to inherent advantages (geography, public perception, superior academic prestige, etc.). If that's ever going to change, we need to do things a bit differently than they've been done in the past. There's a pecking order in college football and if we ever want to change that dynamic, we need to have the courage to think and act differently.
2. Be balanced and avoid assuming anything when it comes to coaches or recruits.
Even though its lame and boring, I'll always defer to the coaching staff on recruiting questions because they've produced the results on the field. Putting the results on the field is not just winning games, either. I mean you look at our teams from the past 5 years and they are laden with talent from top to bottom. We've had our misses and our hiccups, to be sure, but overall its pretty incredible the collection of players Oregon has amassed. The games we've lost... it hasn't been for lack of talent on our teams.
To be specific, Oregon has some of the truly elite talent evaluators in the country. When it comes to talent evaluation I think Helfrich, Osborne, Campbell, Pellum, Neal and Chip Kelly are all exceptionally gifted evaluators. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a little bit of my own personal ego invested in "star-gazing" and wanting all the highly recruited kids to choose Oregon, but I balance that by objectively looking at each kid based on their tape and suitability to our program.
As much as I hate to say this because I think the world of Justin and all the rest of the mods on the 247 Board... recruiting rankings are not the be-all-end-all! We need to clean it up as a board and get a little bit better at processing the unpredictable ticks and turns of the recruiting cycle. If you're down in the dumps and feeling like we just don't have enough committed kids this year, I'm with you on that one. Hang in there. If you need something to do... check out Oregon basketball! They're having a pretty good season!
The moral of the story is this: you won't always understand, but don't stop believing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfUYuIVbFg0.)
Quack On! Go Ducks!
Special shout-out to all our Southern Cal friends enjoying the pleasant El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
Bottom line: this will be our fourth consecutive BCS game. Our staff evaluated those football players.
