Personally, if you are an Oregon fan, you have to be ecstatic at the way they are closing right now and the additions of Devon Allen and Elijah George are big.
From what I'm hearing, I think Oregon could see as many as three commits before this weekend, heck maybe even by Wednesday.
Stay tuned to the boards boys and girls.......

Win The Day
I just read on scout, Cameron Hunt is down to Oregon & Cal, and will decide on signing day..
Love the list - isn't Hunt waiting til Signing Day though?

Hunt is a signing day call. That was the plan when before he visited Cal.
Hunt has said elsewhere that he will decide this week, inform the coaches of the schools this week, and then announce on Signing Day. I like that approach. It allows the schools a small amount of time to adjust if necessary ... time nonetheless ... but us fans will likely have to be patient.
Rivals actually downgraded George between the first notice of him for Oregon 3 star. And their final rankings where they downgraded him to a 2 star. As for recruiting heating up, it us a week from NSD so we'll get our quota of recruits. Still it is not looking like we are doing our traditional finish strong with respect to the recruit rankings. We got Allen, and agood shot at Hunt. But the final commits seem to be 3/2 stars for the most part with a good shot of losing our well ranked 4 star Carrington.
It must suck to have to only depend on star rankings to determine your happiness with Oregon recruiting.
Cameron Judge in the mix? Thought I read that somewhere.
And to think after Chip left and commits wanted to take trips most people were freaking out. If Helf can keep everyone while adding a few more that will be very impressive.
It isn't about rankings it is about nit-picking terminology and statements used.
Recruiting heating up. (This can mean getting more interest/commits from highly ranked recruits, or can mean just Getting more commits.) In this case the latter, but I feel is kind of redundant simply because of the limited time left before NSD.
As with the Oregon finish strong moto, this year just isn't looking like the case. Not to say we don't have good players but the finish strong is a direct relation/statement to picking up well ranked commits. This year there is just so many 4-5 stars not pursued or missed on.
If we signed only 2 stars would you care? Probably. It is just about the level of expectations.
I would guess Williams for sure. I think Hunt is waiting until signing day from everything that I have read. I would be surprised if they offer Hobbs at this point if Williams commits but I don't see any other targets ready to Quack by Wednesday so I would have to guess Hobbs as well. I will be less excited about Hobbs because I think it will mean the coaches may be giving up on someone else like Johnson.
In my estimation, the 3 closest to committing are:
3. ? (I have no idea here, I would be surprised if it is Bierria because he is visiting this weekend but he is the only one I can think of other than perhaps Prevot or James. If it is either of them that would really excite me.)
It doesn't need to be an argument Angry ... but read what you just wrote. You say that it isn't about the rankings, but then you go on talking about nothing but stars and rankings. Yeah, if you're unhappy with 2-stars or 3-stars, so be it. I'm excited to learn of a player who our coaching staff wants to be a part of our program, and that player wants to be a part of Oregon's program. We don't know how a given player's career is going to turn out, regardless of star ranking or hype coming into the program. There's plenty of examples to show both positive and negative outcomes. As I said though, it just must not be all that much fun for your happiness and excitement level to be determined from what websites rank the players, instead of assuming that the coaches know what they are looking for when they recruit players. So it goes though . . .
If we sign three more 3* recruits our class would jump up into the top 15. Stars do not always translate to on field success.
Every recruit is athletically blessed.. 75% of the battle is coaching them up when they get to college.. which is what ours do best. See as we have most of our staff still in tact and the kind of guy that Helf is, closing out and picking up some more solid recruits is what matters the most.
It is and it isnt about rankings at the same time. Just look and see our Heisman contending 3 star QB. But you also have to understand that there is a correlation between recruiting ranking and success. Just look at the CFB matrix things. The question is where does that happy middle or balance lay and how aware we should be when we see our coaches miss on a number of targets and are now after kids who are lower on their evaluations yet available. Williams though a 3 star will be nice because in part we've been after him a lomg time and was initially evaluated by the staff rather well.
Finished in the top 20 in recruiting last 5 years... Finished in the top 10 last 3.. Finished 2nd this year.
Meanwhile, south of us.. USC finishes every year in the top 10 in recruiting and rarely have made the top 10 after Carrol left.
In my very uninformed opinion, I think #3 is Hunt. He's keeping it quiet until LOI day, but the coaches know.
Good post Angry, and you have good points. It's not a perfect science. And CFB Matrix has to do with the overall class rankings, and Oregon is looking to climb those rankings down the stretch. Positive momentum is building. But when it comes to individual recruits, I just don't believe we should have less excitement about a player like George (who you originally mentioned) because of his ranking. From what has been reported, we've been recruiting George for over a year. That means we have been interested in him this entire recruiting period. Because of academics, we didn't offer him until recently, but that shouldn't be confused with him being some sort of back up plan. Who would you rather trust and have faith in ... recruiting websites, or what our coaches believe in? Although people hate hearing it, our coaches have in fact earned our trust that they know what they're doing.
