I saw on TOS that their is a rumor that we could be playing Virginia instead of Nevada next year...
Mods have you heard anything?
You can find some info here:
Penn State backed out of their game with UVA this year and we are hearing that Oregon is in talks with UVA to take the place of PSU for Se
Awesome. Thats fine with me. Better than Nevada. Hopefully they can do the same with Nichols State. Look for a better team to take their spot.
I think with where Virginia is at right now as a program (developing to solid), this is a perfect type of major school to put on the schedule. I hope this works out; maybe even a home-and-home! Not to mention, Charlottesville is a cool place; and as a Duck on the east coast, maybe I could make it to the game! Fingers crossed!
I was planning a Tahoe/Reno trip. I have no issues going to Virginia!
Thanks for that, didn't even see that thread
Nice improvement on the schedule. Helps with the assumptions from the east coast.
Except that Nevada is a better team. UVA is a crap program. Great school tho. It's also terrible for our traveling fans.
i think nevada has been trying to change the game since early fall. they have a rough ooc. UO wanted them to find a replacement game. i think that is what i read anyway.
If the game is easier AND they get more love in the polls: all the better.
If Nevada and Virginia are the same level of team (or anything close to it) the vast majority of the country and, I'd bet, the computers will give more credit to a team knocking off Virginia.
Neither of those are necessarily fact. UVA may be a BCS conference team, but they are a bad one. And if it's a 12pm start on the east coast, that's 9 am for us. Just look at how both CAL and Stanford performed against inferior teams with 9 am starts. Surely we'd beat them, but I don't think it will be necessarily easier nor more impressive. Computers don't care about the logo on your helmet.
It has been a rough last few seasons. I would put us in the crap category from the seasons that were listed above, but with 3 straight solid recruiting classes and a lot of freshman starting the last few years the program is getting back to winning. No doubt if this game happens Oregon wins, but t may not be as ugly as some might think. The 2013 UVA team will have some speed and size that we haven't had in years.
One of Oregon's O lineman, Long, his older bro Chris was a 1st team All American DE at UVA in 07. Fun fact. Lol. Their dad is Howie Long of course.
I was really hoping for a Reno trip...and I believe that this game would have been well attended (2500-4000 fans) by Duck faithful. Very few people are going to travel cross-country to see us play UVA. I like to go to 1-2 road games a year....if the game gets changed as rumored this one no longer on the list.
Yes, that said... there are a bunch of us Duck fans on the East Coast that would attend this game at the drop of hat since its in our relative area. I certainly see your point, but this is a relatively unique opportunity for us East Coast Oregon fans.
I'm moving to the Boston area this summer. We've been talking of doing Washington DC while we're back there (two year work commitment), so this works!
I think Duck fans will have the same thought.....DC and the Ducks, not to mention Monticello and Virginia in the early fall. Really hope this happens. Would be great exposure for Oregon.
Hey... I am in Boston. Feel free to connect with me if you ever want to catch a game or something.
Sounds good. I'm on Cape Cod, in Chatham. Always a great place in the fall!
what's up 2 star?
