Most of the Duck posters have been knowledgable, hospitable, and civil. You are quite different. Are you insunating that thru this technique that our coaches, or any coach at any school, teach dirty tactics? If you do, you should probably change the first letter in your user name because I assure you they do not. Football by nature is a physical game and roughing penalties are called IN ALMOST EVERY GAME played HS, college, and pro. So, we have an old saying down south...'If you can't stand the heat..stay out of the kitchen'.

I never said anything about the coaches teaching it. I am simply asking a question as to why he does it. It isn't something you see in the NFL or any other players in NCAA doing so I am just curious as to why NF always wants to pick up the QB and try to slam him down on his head and shoulders if it isn't with the intent to injure.

As for the Barners thing, I didn't realize that it was offensive to you (seriously). I just thought it was what y'all called each other. What would you prefer to be called Aubie's? Just askin, don't get upset.

And yes, football is a very physical sport but there is a line that is drawn between being a physical, intense, player and being a dirty player that is trying to physically hurt another player, and here is the key, to the point they can't continue to play. Every player loves to make the opposing players feel the pain. Not every player wants to seriously hurt them. The "perception" of NF is of the latter. It wouldn't be that way if it wasn't at least a little bit suspicious. When you blatantly spear a blinsided QB in the back with your helmet their is reasonable suspicion in my opinion.

    Nice.

$cam steals laptops, cheats on papers, and takes money to play.

Read the police report and then come explain why he got in trouble. I'm still having a hard time understanding why he spent a night in jail?

    Sorry,

You have facts confused with false reports.

Cam did not steal a laptop.
There is no evidence he cheated on anything.
He (nor his dad nor Auburn) took any money.

On the other hand...the following are facts

    Nick Fairley hits Quarterbacks thumbsup

    LaMichael James hits women thumbdown

    ...nuff said

LMJ didn't hit a woman. He got his car keys and necklace back from an out of control ex-gf. It was a minor incident that got blown way out of proportion. But sure, if you think Cam has done nothing wrong regarding cheating, laptops and money ok.

Question though, why would Cam throw a laptop out of the window when the police showed up if he thought that he bought it legitimately? I wouldn't throw my belongings out the window if the police showed up at my house. Maybe he has Terrets or something. If he does I apologize. It is a terrible disease but it may explain his actions.

  • I've never heard so much whining in my life. If you are a DT, you WANT to knock the QB out of the game. You dream about it. Knock him on his ass as hard as you can. Then help him up and do it again. Look back at those tapes and watch Nick help the guy up on those questionable late hits. It's a rough game. Get over it.

  • $cam is a phenom. I consider it completely unfair that someone of his height and weight be able to move like that. I'm very excited to have Oregon play against him.

That being said, don't be such a homer. Yes, the circumstances surrounding that laptop were dubious. Readthe report not just the final decision. The academic stuff is probably very true. It's not like Alabama made up these accusations to soil his good name. Notice how they (newtons) have not addressed it at all? As for the money........ It takes far more creativity and effort to deny the evidence then it would to come to the same conclusion that the rest of us have. Plus with lowder sitting at the controls I will be shocked if I find out that he was clean.

Hopefully the FBI doesn't turn everything they find on him over to the NCAA. Or Auburn might have more serious issues to deal with compared to getting whooped on national TV.

Bobby Lowder might be slight of frame, but no booster throws his weight around college sports quite like the Auburn ubertrustee.

  • I have stayed quiet about all the AU fans visiting. Great to have a different perspective. If you want to talk smack however this board is not the place to do so. I have not visited your board an indirectly or directly insulted you, and if you cannot refrain from doing the same on this board, please go elsewhere. We here welcome THOUGHTFUL discussion. But if you want to continue this vien, please go elsewhere.

Maybe he cheated, maybe he didn't. Maybe 99% of students cheat at some time, maybe they don't. Maybe you aren't aware that it's a federal offense to divulge information about a student's academics to anyone without express written consent by the student?

  • Alright Alright Alright Alright.

This type of ish has NO BUSINESS here. I can see the team pride and spirit coming through on both sides and that's what makes this such a good place to be. I am sure we could call out players and call each other names but we are all cheapening the game that will hopefully be one to remember for a very long time.

Auburn has been waiting for this opportunity for awhile. We have been waiting since inception. I don't really care whether NF is dirty. Because in the end, it doesn't matter. We will scheme. They will scheme. Whomever finishes the day, will win. It won't come down to Cam Newton, Nick Fairley or anyone else. It'll come down to team. And team assignments. Being responsible in space.

NF is fairly disruptive (pardon the pun) and he will need to be accounted for. But like some posters from AU have mentioned, he isn't the ONLY DL we need to worry about. This will be an all-day type of match. I don't foresee us wearing Auburn down in this game.

Now, I don't take a whole Auburn fanbase and call them homers because of a couple of posters. But let's face it people! We're all part homer! We have to be! We analyze, criticize, and scrutinize every play our team makes. It would be hard not to feel sympathetic to our teams weaknesses and probably boast our strengths.

Whether or not Cam (or his family) stole or attempted to steal anything. Whether LaMichael (beats) mishandled a domestic issue. It has NO PLACE ON THIS BOARD. It is pure conjecture and mud-slinging as we feel it may have gone down differently on both sides. Let's keep this about the game. Take all the personal garbage out of it and have a great game.

    Thank you.

  • benias said... (original post)

    Read the police report.

He was arrested, I'll admit and give you that....but so was L James and many other college and professional athletes for an array of reasons. But arrest of an indivdual and a conviction by a court of law are different under a piece of paper called the constitution. Now, go read the decision of the court on CN.....he purchased stolen property. Also, you failed to mention or provide any evidence on your latter and most damaging accusation of PFP. Forgive me if I don't wait for any proof...it may take a while..like never...
So, let's just leave it at that and hope for a good game in Glendale that both schools and alum can be proud of...

Remember: If The Jury Box Is Stacked With Foxes...The Chickin Is Always Guilty

  • It might take five years, but it will probably happen.

As for the game I can't wait. I'm excited to see PAC play the SEC. To see both fast paced teams go at it. To watch big ten officials need breaks before the players do. My only complaint is that we have to wait so long.

Thank you to all of the auburn fans who came on over and livened this day up. Really has helped this work day fly by.

  • Auburn fans,

I fully appreciate the discussion, but this has turned into character assassination. You don't see us going to your boards and saying stuff about Cam's past.

If you guys want to have a logical discussion about what Fish wrote that is fine. Hell, I'll even encourage it. But please don't come over to this board and start attacking LMJ or DT peoples opinion.

I respect the fact that you guys have an issue with the article. Their is other ways to disagree without name calling like 5 year old's. This goes to DT members as well who are taking shots at the Auburn fans that have nothing to do with football.

Lets please keep this civil or end it. I don't pay money every month to hear fans yell at each other. If I wanted to see this, I'll head over to ESPN on their boards.

    Thanks.

hahaha...I'm sorry, I'm just having too much fun with this thread banana

Honestly though, I thought about posting a measured and logical rebuttal to some of the Oregon insinuations and comments about Fairley being dirty...but there were already plenty of Auburn guys who had done that. I thought it would be fun to throw some gasoline on the fire in a little "tit for tat" against some of the other Oregon posters who just wanted to take a shot at Auburn. catfight

Anyway, just to clarify some things gang_green. James was arrested and accused with 5 counts including strangulation and agrivated assult. He eventually pled guilty only to harrassment, served 10 days in jail and is on a 2 year probation. James was actually found guilty of harrassment. On to Newton, there is absolutely no evidence of any money being paid or received, and absolutely no evidence of Cam knowing anything about it the "solicitation" or even being involved. So we have a case of someone being proven guilty, and one where there is no evidence of anything actually happening other than a solicitation...and even then neither Cam nor Auburn were involved at all. Two totally different situations here.

Back to the original topic at hand with Nick "The Nightmare" Fairley. I've watched every Auburn game this year, been to a number of them including the GA game, and DVR'ed the game to watch it again afterwards. The only hit I've seen Fairley make that I thought was "dirty" was that spear on Aaron Murray in the GA game. Fairley made a mistake and didn't pull up when he should have...and he has said as much that he regrets it. The reason people are up in a fuss about him is because he is so freaking good. He WILL hit your QB...count on it. However, the refs are indeed watching him very closely, so he can't get away with looking at the QB late without getting flagged. Look at the overreaction in the Alabama game. He sacked McElroy, celebrated for about 2 seconds and got a penalty. Had Fairley done what Marcell Dareus did 5 minutes earlier when he sacked Newton, Fairley might have been ejected from the game and indefinitely suspended from the NCAA.

Anyway, I kinda like you Oregon guys...compared to the bammers, you guys are tame. It promises to be a good game on January 10th...hope you guys have a good game...but hope we have a better one.

See these facts are wrong. LMJ never pleaded guilty. He pleaded no contest. If you don't know what the difference is, go look it up.

Incorrect...he indeed plead guilty on the harrassment charge as part of a plea deal to get the other charges thrown out.

  • You are correct. He was going to plead no contest, but as part of the plea deal, it was required that he admit guilt.

If anyone here is actually interested in reading what happened, and not making assumptions like "he beat up a girl" and "he choked a girl out" I have attached the sentencing memorandum for you to read.

Auburn has a very strong agricultural and veterinary school (one of the nation's best), so opposing SEC teams like to refer to us as 'barners (as in lives in a barn). We prefer to be called Tigers, or just as Auburn.

I agree 100%. Very well said, sir.

We should be discussing the GAME and not a 20'something year old's past alleged transgressions (on both sides). There's much more interesting topics to discuss than laptops and choking incidents, but only if you're a fan of the GAME and not someone who spews vitriol from the media talking heads and have no facts to back it up.

We run into this type of stuff all the time with other SEC teams spouting information that is not factual. I have come to the conclusion that Auburn fans (at least the ones I know) have got to be the most informed fans out there. I can't tell you how many times on a weekly basis I have to provide clarification on football related issues both on and off the field. deadhorse

And another thought, does AU really want to be like Bama last year, and have their win be against a true freshman QB who comes in?

We were already winning when the freshman QB came in. And it was a DB who hit McElroy and he spun awkwardly hitting his head on the ground. It wasn't even close to being anything dirty.
