Devon Blackmon

  • Jhop, any sense how Blackmon's recruitment might have impacted other kids? If he told our coaches he was a Duck but wanted to wait to announce at an all star game, did we pass on other kids thinking he was coming to Oregon? Seems to me Kelley is out there kinda of in limbo, any others or kids that went elsewhere because we didn't have room?

  • I wondered that about Avery Walls too. I don't have a problem with kids changing their minds and going somewhere else, but I hope it's not at the expense of getting someone else. We could end up losing two that way. Too bad he got everyone's hopes up all decked out in Duck gear on his twitter page for so long.

Edit: We might have had Kelley a month ago if it turns out Blackmon has been a UCLA silent commit for months as Biggins and Huffman are now saying.

  • its been rumored that he was a silent there but over the last couple months it seemed like we had moved ahead.

    bummer

  • if a kid wants to go play for a mediocre team,, let them,, we want kids that want to be here at oregon,, kids who want to compete, and kids that want to WIN!!! a kid with a big ego wouldnt go over to well at Oregon, we arent that kind of team

  • Don't give a ****. He's very talented and could help Oregon but the drama is of no interest to me. Every time I hear stuff about Blackmon with drama I just keep thinking that B.J. Kelly could be so good for us. Yes, Blackmon seems to have more raw talent, but the ego stroking publicity is getting old.

  • Agree charlotte. Would rather have Kelley at this point. He wants to be a Duck from his interviews.

  • I have faith that the coaches will be able to handle this situation in a fashion that is sutiable to Oregon Football. Kelley visits soon, if Blackmon is not on board by then that is where the line appears to be drawn. Relax it is being handled.

  • IM Duck. I have stated previously, I have no problem with him as a person. I just hate the ego that comes along with SOME kids and this process. It's their life and their recruitment but all the twitter stuff and teasing just brings scrutiny on what your personality will be like on the field. He has all the talent in the world and if he works hard, he'll be something special. Just not making a great first imnpression on this Duck fan I guess.

  • Hey, if Blackmon goes to UCLA Let's wish him the best with their new OC. Also a new HC in 2yrs when Neuweasel is shown the door for not producing.

Things are looking up when you let go of a guy that has been a top OC for two decades .......right???

    socalduck2001

  • I never have called a kid an a****** and I never will. It's there life and they make the decisions they make.

Specifically with Blackmon, I've been stating my opinion that he is a "me" player for awhile, before all of this news came out, so it isn't like I'm bashing the kid for wanting to play at UCLA.

Bottom line, I want team players at Oregon. I don't want people that are all about media attention. We dodged a bullet with TP and I hope in the future that those types of players continue to go elsewhere, no matter how good they are.

At the end of the day I have 100% faith in CK and the image that he is trying to build Oregon too.

  • he'll end up the next Randall Carroll if he goes to UCLA to play WR, you couldnt pick a worse school to play WR. they have no clue what they are doing on offense with the pistol and who the OC will be.

im not sure what to expect from his announcement but i am disappointed that Kelley didnt get a more serious look. kids like Kelley are what the current program is built off.

  • I still not buying this Silent UCLA commit stuff. I remember when he came to Oregon for the visit and he was chating up about it so much, the NCAA had the shut him up. I still think he's going to Oregon, but if i'm wrong, then this kid is a actor of the first degree.

Two recruiting experts are now saying that he has been a silent commit to UCLA for a long, long time and helped recruit Hundley to UCLA. Amazing that he was able to keep all that secret and wear Duck gear on his twitter page.

Well where the hell did you hear that? Sounds like your just floating this one.

  • Not trying to get on anyones bad side, but it doesn't matter what any of us like or want. It is what the coaches want.

  • Maybe I'm naive, but it seems like CK sets the tone of the program and it certainly has shown this year. Very team first attitude and he had no trouble letting those who didn't conform go, talented or not.

Makes me think that Devon's just having fun with his recruiting, while i do find it kinda frustrating, if he chooses Oregon and doesn't conform, then he'll be gone before he causes the team any chemistry problems.

    But maybe I'm just idealistic.
