I hate to sound like the bad guy too but I have watched Tyner's film and wasn't overly impressed either. He seems like a one cut RB and in Oregon's offense LMJ made a lot of yards on his own by juking and moving all over the field. I don't see Tyner being that way at all. More of a LGB type runner with much less power. His speed is what is keeping him so high which makes sense with his near wolrd class speed. I think he fits well still in our offense but he will need to keep every bit of his speed to be a big time PAC performer.

Then maybe he should not of had it in the first place, but, they evaluated him and gave him 5*. How does that change when there is nothing since then to evaluate? I agree that he can be passed on the class rankings list and dropped from 20 to 25 as others receive evaluations, but how does it change his grade? It should only change his class ranking.

    Player Rankings Explanation
At 247Sports, each recruit that we evaluate will be assigned a numerical rating as well as a star rating. The rankings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation and input from our network of scouts.

Players are ranked by position, grouped qualitatively with a star ranking and given a numerical ranking based on their future potential. The explanation for the numerical rankings is below.

110 - 101 = A player ranked in this range is a "franchise player." He is one of the best to come along in years - if not decades (LeBron James, Adrian Peterson). Odds of having a player in this category every year is slim. This prospect has “can’t miss” talent.

100 - 98 = Five-star prospect. One of the top 25 or so prospects in the nation. Player has excellent pro potential, and should emerge as one of the best players in the country before his college career ends

97 - 90 = Four-star prospect. Prospect will be an impact-player for his college team. All-America candidate who displays pro potential. Typically one of the top 300 players in the nation.

89 - 80 = Three-star prospect. These are the players who will develop into reliable starters for the college teams. They are among the best players in their region of the country, and are generally among the top 750 players in the nation.

79 - below = Two-star prospect. These players make up the bulk of Division I rosters. They may have little pro potential, are likely to become role players for their respective schools or not enough is known about the prospect to rank them accurately.

  • If any of you are worried about Tyner being great you should be more worried about Kenjon Barner being our every down back. Thinking he can get 1500 yrds may be a pipe dream. Both are 1 cut guys but Tyner initiates contact and can get tough yrds. Ever since KB's wsu concussion he has shied away from contact and Tyner is simply bigger, stronger, and faster then KB. i believe KB can get 1300 next year and tyner could get close to 2000 at any point in his career with enough carries. Baring injury Tyner will be a 5 star back in our system.

I hope you are wrong about Barner. He had some very productive games after the injury. Recall the games he filled in for LMJ.

I'm not knocking on Tyner, just saying I like Barner.

    What?

Dude Barner will probably have close to 600 yards after the first three games alone. If he stays healthy he definitely has the talent to reach 1500. He did not shy away from contact last season. He played extremely well against ASU, Colorado and USC and got hit several times in each game.
