Ducks eyeing 4 star RB.....

  • I believe Justin may have posted that the coaches are looking at 4 star RB Royce Freeman(5'11", 215 lbs) from California. Biggins on Scout said that he is a target as well. I'm intrigued by Royce. He's definitely in the powerback mold at 5'11", 215 lbs. He does not go down easily. He doesn't have crazy speed, but he seems to have excellent vision and very good feet for a bigger back.

He has excellent balance as well. He has great cuts. The cuts aren't in hyper speed like a DAT or Tyner, but they are very calculated and precise. He consistently makes defenders miss and he seems to have mastered the spin move as well. I think he would be a good option as a bigger powerback. What do you guys think?

  • He looks complete. Has fluid hips, good body control, runs through tackles, gotta a good stiff arm and looks like he's got break away speed. I like bigger fluid backs. Seems like we're looking at a lot a different styles of RB this year.

Royce has some game. The plays at 1:24 and 1:40 really stand out. The play at the 1 24 mark was nice to see because you see that he has a pretty good burst for a bigger back. He isn't the burner who the Ducks usually recruit but he's a Cadi runner IMO. Meaning he looks like a big ole Cadillac out there, with a bunch of power but enough juice to drop the hammer and get loose on the highway. I really think he has good feet in the hole, and his short, choppy cuts kind of remind me of the Bus. I love the bigger backs, and I think it will be a good move if the Ducks can pick up a kid like Royce or Vic Enwere. Out of the two, I like Freeman a little better. Plus, how do you not like a kid who just throws kids off of him. I would like to see a big RB like him inflict his will a bit more out there and punish kids who try and tackle him. He's the body type who can make a tackler think twice about taking him on and I just don't think he does it enough.

  • I can see him playing for Stanford.

Racean Thomas is still my #1.

  • Stanford has offered downs as a running back also...

I'd rather have Downs than Royce and Racean is the best back I've looked at so far but I'd be happy with any of them.
