Getting to Autzen from OOS

  • What is the best way to get to Autzen Stadium, when by car is not a possibility? Would it be to fly into Portland?

I really want to go to the USC vs. Oregon game in November.

I'm not old enough to rent a car, so if Portland is the closest airport, then I'd have to greyhound from Portland to Eugene. Are the greyhound stations close to the airport and UO campus? Does this plan sound totally ridiculous without a car?

If the price is right for airfare, I definitely want to be there.

  • I would def. fly into Eugene if possible, you'll pay more for the ticket but you'll be miles from the stadium. Once you're there you won't really need a car if you stay at the right hotel.

Hope you enjoy yourself if you make it up.

Thanks for the reply. I would fly into Eugene, but I have credit with Southwest (ironically from when I decided not to return to USC ha) and they only fly into Portland. I don't think it's enough to cover the whole trip though, so flying into or out of Eugene may actually be an option.

Not sure I'd get a hotel. Might just try to leave the same day, because I don't think I'd be able to find anyone who would put up that kind of money. So additional question, is Autzen safe for a lone 'SC fan?

  • Autzen is completely safe for an SC fan or any other fan. There may be a few idiots running around, but you'll be safe if you use basic common sense.

  • Yeah man. If you are not the guy running around trying to get into a fight lol, you'll be completely fine. The most that would happen is a lot of trash talking around you, but in some cases it enhances the game a bit! :-) me and some friends with to the SC game like 4-5 years ago and were surrounded by SC fans. I'm sure it went a little easier on us since we got our asses handed to us in that game.

You'll be fine though. Plus I think you'll find more SC fans around you than you think. There are a lot of South Cali people here in Oregon. And you guys travel well.

  • I have a RV that I take down to every home game and we are always looking for people to hitch a ride.... all you would have to do is pitch in on gas and parking usually $25 to $40.00 and you are welcome to tailgate with us as well... Once the kickoff happens we will disown you till after the game... but other than that the more the merrier....

  • If you don't wear Husky purple you should be safe.

Haha take down from where, Portland? Also, when do you go home, same night?

Haha I'm not one who looks for fights, so it sounds like I'll be ok. I'm just used to reading on USC boards how "Oregon fans are the worst," but I've never actually encountered any. I did get some shit at Notre Dame because my buddy mocked an older Irish fan, but that buddy won't be coming with if I go to Eugene. I also got crap from some 30-year-old drunk guys in Minnesota, simply because I was wearing a Lane Kiffin signed hat and cheering for 'SC.

  • I hope you make it up. There is a new breed of fan that dissapoints, but you get them in every stadium. I welcome Trojan, Husky, Cardinal fan...its just a freaking game and its not like we are on the field making plays. Make noise Ducks, but stay classy as well.

You could probably rent a car for the day with unlimited miles for $30-40 bucks plus gas, right at the airport. Drive down, catch the game, drive back.

But when its my time to throw the next stone...

Thanks, I hope I can make it *down (live in Minnesota) too. If the airfare goes down from what it currently is at, there's a strong possibility I will.

    Unfortunately, I don't think I can rent a car at age 20.

  • Hey SC fan, look up Allegiant Air. They fly direct into eugene and are generally pretty cheap. I flew out of LAX recently using allegiant. Best way to fly direct into Eugene. You will have a great time in Autzen (just be prepared for the devastating loss)

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it looks like Allegiant doesn't fly into Eugene on Saturday, November 19. Great deals though, I'll check them out in the future. thumbsup

  • Sure you can, you pay an age differential charge or some bs like that, but the Hertz at the airport will rent to you if I am not mistaken.

I'll look into it. I was always under the impression you had to be 25, or 21, but, like you said, pay more.

  • Yes from Portland.... we do head back that evening but we do not rush out.... we like to take our time and enjoy the post game and evening and let all the traffic clear before heading back....
