Patience on the part of Coach Kelly and Co. is easily confused with reticence or reluctance to play the recruiting game by alot of peeps who want instant results. I love that we aim to take the 'the long view' in our recruiting process. It's consistent with Oregon's 'get all the fact, make a decision based on those facts' credo that has served us well both off the field and on. By taking a wide-scope, long road approach Oregon does indeed miss out of some of the aggro athletes who EVERYONE offers. Because Oregon wants to make sure the kid has character, is a good teammate, loves the game, etc, they eschew the knee-jerk reaction and insure the school's integrity and belief in their process. This is both a commitment to excellence and a parameter-setting limitation. This is a tough Catch-22 for a smaller state school up here in the Northwest, as getting there first and showing massive interest in a big-time recruit are twin pillars for a young man who wants to be wanted. I understand why we don't send coaches into SEC country to try and catch the latest lightning in a bottle from Florida or Alabama, but as we evolve and broaden our scope even further it wouldn't surprise me to see earlier offers and even more highly touted recruits in the mix. Oregon is known for his aggressive attack on the field. Off the field, patience has served us well. A more aggressive recruiting tack could be the next great frontier for the Oregon Webfoots. We've done so much in the last five years. How can we get better? The great question with myriad answers to be sure. Here's to doing the things the right way, The Oregon Way: patient, poised, aggressive, ascendant.

Justin, how would you compare the interest of 2013 recruits right now to say, 2011 in February after Oregons previous rose bowl appearance?

Good stuff, hopefully it answers most of the frivolous threads who name the #1 recruit at every position and say Oregon should go after them...
