How many DB's can USC take?

Aside that Boliver has inside info as dkfntn says. We talked with an SC guy and they're going to be really thin after this year, only 3 secondary schollie guys IIRC. Plus their class will prob be 19 with four EE's, so it's not unreasonable to take 4 or 5 for your biggest position of need.

True, Chris Hawkins is going to be an early entry. There are a couple other guys who are basically locks to SC, who will be early entry guys as well. SC is going to have a monster class, that is for sure.

Redfield looks like the safest bet for the Ducks to land a top line DB from Cali. That LSU offer is huge for him though. He will take a very serious look at them.

Regardless, this class of DB's out west is ridiculously talented and deep. There are plenty of options for the Ducks to choose from. They will do well at DB no matter where these elite guys wind up.

SC has a huge need for DB next year and EE will help them in a big way when it comes to making it work

Absolutely. And Cravens is being recruited at LB so they could end up with Cravens + 5 others. Gonna be some ridiculous battles over the next 4 years pitting our offense against their defense.

    From an SC fan,

My belief is that Kiffin and Orgeron are recruiting a defense that will be tailor made to stopping the speed of Oregon's offense. If they can recruit the speed in the back seven and size up front, then SC can stop anyone in the conference minus Oregon. The USC v. Oregon games will be great games for years to come, but once the elite talent winds up on both sides the other schools will have a very difficult time.

Would be surprised if SC took 5 dbs in one class with sanctions kicking in this year. That would be 1/3rd of their class. Seems like that would a disproportionate number to take on under the circumstances. Just saying.

    Absolutely correct Morrey! agreed

I think Lame signed on 14 players last class, and "I believe" had 4 EE's.

He's gonna feel the numbers crunch now, and I highly doubt he take 5 DB's with other positions needing help.

And I believe Cravens ends up at either Bama or Arkansas.

LOL Cravens is all SC. And SC will take 5 DB this class unless they take Tee which then they will take 4

If you would simply do a little searching you would find that SC signed 12 players last year with 3 EE's. This year Lane will have the ability to sign 15 for the class of 2013 and take an additional 3 EE's.

Also, Kiffin and co. can sign 12 this year, with 3 EE's, and roll over 3 EE's to next years class. My guess is that USC will be taking the 15 recruits and 3 EE's, because this will be the year to take the bigger class so that they can stagger depth at certain positions.

That will mean that SC will take 15 next year, or 12 again with 3 EE's for 2015, and in 2015 they will be able to take 25 or 28.

Regardless of your bias, one has to realize that USC has brilliantly maneuvered through these sanctions.

  • ^^^^Thanks for the correction Truth. That's precisely why I said "I think" I knew the number was low, but didn't realize it was that low. headslap

And as I'm sure you and every other college fan knows, no player is "all any school"(Armstead,Payton), til they sign that LOI.

However, I will concur that(so far), Kiffin is doing a pretty good job of dealing with the sanctions. This is year 1 of 3, so let's see how he does the next 2 years.
