How solid is Dontre Wilson?

Please. Offer any of our recruits. You will not flip any of Urbs. You guys are the dillusional one!s. You don't have nowhere near the tradition we have. Chip was the best thing that had ever happened to Ducks football. Now that he has left because of the sanctions that are on their way. You should be upset with him because he lied to all Duck fans. Oh yeah I don't know about the other kids you guys were speaking of but one thing I do know is you can kiss Wilson goodbye! He will be a Buckeye:-)

    Lmao. Epic failure. Move along.

"Lied to Duck fans." That's rich coming from a Buckeye/Meyer fan. I thought Meyer was settling down to be closer to his family? Ih wait, he was really sick and CFB was taking a toll on his health. That was it. Lol. Maybe he was scared to stay in the SEC and be Sabans bitchboy? Hmm? Urbam lied to UF, his God, himself, his family, hell the whole world. Dude is a bonified scumbag. Nice troll attempt though. Sucks when a troll backfires on you huh?

I believe Elliot has already enrolled effective with the winter semester. And we aren't arrogant! We have been talking to Wilson for about two weeks now and it is my understanding that Wilson made contact with us. By the way, Barrett also enrolled in January. This isn't OSU's fault. This is Kelly's fault.

I wasn't being serious about those kids. I was trying to make a point that Urban poaches kids from every school and you guys should get a taste of your own medicene. He has no shame whatsoever.

As for Dontre making contact with OSU I somehow doubt that highly. I don't doubt he has been talking to OSU, but I would bet my unborn child that Urban has been relentlessy calling him and was the one who originally initiated contact. It's his M.O. Poaching is what he does.

For a man that is trying to replicate Oregons system he should show a little more respect. Shows he is of low character and lacks integrity. Lol at talking to Wilson for two weeks. Wilson has been a priority of Oregons for over a year and was a top recruit for Oregon.

Fact is he's still commited to Oregon for now and he and his father have both said if Coach Cam and Helf are here he's coming to Oregon. That's good enough for now. If he ends up at OSU then best of luck to him and I hope he enjoys playing for a generic system and not the name brand.

You're right. No one ever heard of Ohio State football before we "copied" you. You do know that Urban ran this offense first right? He came to visit Kelly because he was very interested in the things that Kelly changed in the offense and was very complementary about Oregon. As to OSU coming after your recruits, I direct you to your own article which states that Wilson has been receiving calls from all over the country, not just OSU.

Actually Urban ran a different form of the spread. I can't stand when ignorant FB fans say that crap. Meyer basically ran the old version of thr West coast spread option.

Chip runs a zone spread which NFL teams such as the 49ers, Seahawks, Redskins, Patriots, Panthers, etc, etc...all run very similar systems. Chip is a revolutionary and a true innovator. Urban's system was give ball to Tebow or Harvin and run.

Urban is definitely trying to copy what Oregon does and has been doing. He even said it publicly. Lol. Oregon>OSU all day every day!!!

  • Please tell me why when other fans start talking **** about buckeye fans they always come out with the statement "urban will ruin your program, just wait." Yeah, he really ruined Utah and Florida, going undefeated at Utah and 2 NC at fla. and Florida went 11-1 in the regular season. Really ruined that program.

It's not bucknuts making up the chatter with dontre maybe flipping to the buckeyes. Over 3 staff members, one being Steve wiltfong who is not a bucknuts writer, he is a national guy who said he has 2 sources close to the situation who says he thinks the buckeyes are the team to beat in this situation.

That's not the issue; we all understand the reality of the situation after Chip left. It's the fact that you and other fans of your program have nothing to say except "Haha! We're gonna take all your recruits and your programs sucks! Na na boo boo! My dad can beat up your dad!" Bunch of damn 12-year-olds gloating like idiots.

  • If we're talking about the current state of our teams, yes OSU went undefeated. If you look a little further, you'll see that at home against Cal you won by a measly touchdown, while we went on the road and beat them by 42 points. You squeaked out wins against an overrated Michigan State team, PURDUE IN OVERTIME AT HOME, Wisconsin (who was superior last year mind you), Indiana by 3, and UAB and UCF at home both by 2 touchdowns each. Hell, I'd be disappointed if the Ducks played your schedule and didn't go undefeated. You probably think the same about our schedule don't you? Let me remind you that USC, UCLA, Stanford, Arizona, ASU, Washington, and Oregon State are all better than that bum-ass team Pac12 team you beat by a TD.

  • The reporting on Wilson's recruitment has me a little perplexed. On the one hand we have the writers (mods) for the Oregon site talking exclusively with Dontre and his family. It appears there is mutual trust between the parties and the reporting indicates Dontre is committed to the Ducks based upon statements made by Dontre and his father. On the other hand you have other 247 writers (mods) that write for the Buckeyes site. They appear to be talking to Dontre's coach about the situation. The coach appears to be communicating to them, per JHops writing, that Dontre is going to visit OSU and will end up there. Dontre refuted those claims to the Oregon mods up until recently. Now he's thinking about it.
Why are the mods for the two sites not talking to the same people, so that there is not a he said, no he said storyline but a complete picture presented to readers?

But that issue aside, what appears to me to possibly be a bigger untold story, particularly given the subject matter of Oregon's pending hearing with the NCAA, is why would a coach get himself so involved with a kid's recruitment? Why would a coach, after a kid has committed to a school, continue to talk to the press about a players interest in another school, despite that kid and his parents saying otherwise? Or more to the point, what are Urban and the Buckeyes offering this coach for access to Wilson?

Yes, our schedule wasn't great but undefeated is undefeated, and our defense was light years better at the end of the year compared to the beginning of the year. Our defense was top 15 in yards given up at the end of the year, beginning of the year was atrocious. Do I think we would have beaten you guys head to head this year? No I don't, but that has nothing to do with dontre Wilson maybe flipping to the buckeyes.

I like your team and would have liked to have seen u play Alabama. It would have been a great game to watch.

Good news indeed... but over on Bucknuts they are VERY confident they are landing Wilson... and maybe Carrington and the twins as well. The only obstacle in their minds is that they have no spots available, so they think Urban will be over signing and then forcing players to transfer. Don't know how much truth there is to this or if it's wishful thinking.

This is false we have 3 spots open and there will be more transfers to come. We are not going to go all SEC style and sign 40 players we take the best we can get OSU has been in contact with 4 Oregon recruits out of those you may land 1 that doesn't mean the others won't go elsewhere. Also we are looking for 1 more O lineman and a DB so realisticly we have 1 slot open and a reciever is what the staff would like so they will go hard after Dontre I'm sure.

In my opinion, the Big 12 was an absolute joke this yr...UCLA beat up on Nebraska, Stanford and OSU beat up on Wisco, who went on to the rosebowl.

I see your point but on my end I've always been up front with the Wilson family, asked them simply to tell me any news, good or bad, I don't care, just shoot me straight. I felt I've had no reason to go to speak with the coach who seems to have a different opinion on what Dontre will do.

That's the reason I haven't decided to seek the alternate opinion. I also know what coach Mathis has said to coach Campbell privately which lines up more with what the Wilson family has said versus what coach Mathis has said to other media.

We will all, Oregon/Ohio State fans have to simply wait and see what develops.

I have little doubt he'll visit Ohio State now, but I think if Helf is promoted and Campbell stays, Wilson will remain with Oregon.

  • Don't base OSU's fan base on a few people...

I know it seems like we have more people yapping at you, but I'm guessing the percentage is fairly equal to anyone else. We just have one of the largest fan bases in the country. Combine one of the largest student bodies in the nation with a football team that is historically a powerhouse, and Ohio being a "football state" which both NFL teams suck, and Buckeye football is damn near a religion.

I talk a lot of college football with one of my old Army buddies from Oregon... He thinks the Ducks will be fine as long as the OC is promoted. He is taking a wait and see approach with all of your recruits between now and LOI day next month.

JHop, I appreciate your response, very transparent and informative and helps explain your reporting. Thank you.

Gerry and the others reported on the Buckeye site a version of the "story" in a much more favorable light to Buckeye fans. This gives the appearance, at least to me, that there is a level of discretion being used by mods/reporters to meet the "expectations" of the various fan bases, rather than a consistent, this is the story as we, i.e., 247 Sports, sees it. But that does not appear to be how 247 Sports is organized, i.e., team specific versus national.

As to Dontre's next steps, personally, one rule I always admired Chip for, is if you want to visit other programs, don't commit to us until you are ready to commit. Go visit others, then make your decision. That may seem a bit hollow now, and I understand why many would think so given his recent decision, however, I think the rule has merit. I also get that it may need to be a "guideline".

As history has shown, once an athlete has committed there is a very high retention rate. Given the relationship with Cam, the success Cam has had developing running backs both on and off the field, and that Dontre will have limited time to build a relationship with the OSU staff, I'm confident he will stick with his initial decision.

    Thanks again.

P.S. I noticed you didn't comment on why Mathis is so engaged, or am I expecting you to.

The Suckeyes think any recruit committed to any other school is a secret lock for them. Most arrogant fanbase in CFB, even more than any SEC school or USC. They still give us crap for the Rose Bowl. Who does that when you're not even rivals? Do we go and bother Wiscy on their board because they lost? Will we ever do that to K-State? No. But every few months some Suckeye likes to come on here and talk crap about 2009. Sick of it, grow up.

But I hope Cam can lock Dontre down. Glad they only took his call. I think he'll stay a Duck but it'll be a battle.

You know why every other CF Fan ever come's on here and the reality of it is we've arrived as a top notch school, so Oregon and their AD need to make the Hire within cause clearly Helfrich can get it done and that's the BEST move they could make, even over hiring Peterson from BS, but back to the main subject here is why these LOSER's even get on our website's, because they are clearly jealous of our success, and Ohio St fan's, well let's just say what it is, their totally board with their live's cause there's nothing to do in Ohio except go to Canton, and once you've done that, there's nothing else to do except get on line and totally make ASS' s of themselve's which they've never had a problem doing that, Heck even one of their Great past HC's represented them perfectly, when he tackled the opposing Team's player on the sideline when he would of scored, boy talk about POOR LOSER's.

Because one moron came over here and was talking shit doesnt mean that is how the whole fanbase thinks. Obviously there are some dipshit buckeye fans, but with over 500000 alumni, only a small percentage belong to bucknuts and are dumb enough to come over here and talk shit. Yes we think we will get dontre because he has been rumored for weeks that the buckeyes were San option and now that Kelly made an in home visit the day before taking the eagles job, it obviously leaves a sour taste in dontres mouth.

In regards to the rest of the recruits, I wouldn't think we get any of the others. I don't see that many California kids coming this Far East to play.

From an hour ago @jcshurburtt: Dontre Wilson talk from @GerryH247sports - he's been on record as saying #Buckeyes are possible. Urban Meyer in Desoto soon.

And why are you here, and I can tell you this much, you have NO CLUE what Chip Kelly did and what hour he did it in and who was if anyone had a sour taste in their mouth, unbelievable this coming from you Bucknut fan, why would you need to even come on here and justify anything, cause we don't care about your opinion cause quite frankly I'm getting pissed to pay the Money I've paid over the year's to chat with my fellow Duck Fan's and I don't give a HOOT about what you think and could care even less about what Ohio St does for that matter, and for you to have such easy access really make's me question why I'm paying Duck Money to Duck people that let stupid people like you on here, Cause here's the CLUE, you would never find me on your sites cause I can't stand Ohio St and can't for the life of me, could understand anybody from our site going to your board, because I would have to question their loyalty to the Duck's, but mainly it would be because they are young and not very MATURE. So go back to your board and tell all your 5 thousand Alumni we don't care and none of these recruit's especially Dontre Wilson is coming to the Toilet of the world OHIO ST.

Urban Meyer is one of the BIGGEST DOUSH BAG lier's of College Football there is, just ask Florida Gator's player's.

Unless of course Mullens could pull a major coup and hire Urban away from OSU. Not saying that it is even a possibility to happen but if it did I would assume the OSU trash on our board would become instantly silent.

  • Whoa, take it easy. Oregon is an awesome state with a truly innovative football team. I love the style of play, jersey's etc. and the state is gorgeous. I do not know if Wilson will flip, Urban has a track record of flipping big time prospects(5 last year), but either way you guys should be more worried about NCAA sanction. tOSU got nailed for covering up free tattoos. I would be freaking out if i were you guys and Chip just bolted with rumors swirling of NCAA sanctions.

  • At this point its all a headache. Whatever happens happens. Oregon is RB U and will always get top notch RBs especially with Gary Campbell on staff. If he wants to play for tOSU then go ahead and regret it later. I'll tell you this though D Wilson is no Thomas Tyner. If he were to bounce then i'd be upset. Oregons backfield is well off with DAT B Marshall and Tyner coming in. If you don't think so dont forget that B Addison and Colt Lyerla are very capable of running with the rock. Don't sweat it. IMO Wilson stays. If he doesn't.... Next!
