How was the weekend?

  • Boards were kind of slow so I'm thinking there was a lot of camping and other stuff going on. Anyone do anything fun?

I took my family to a great birthday party (kids) on Saturday, yesterday we went to Battle of the Bones here in Medford. It's a big cookoff and there is beer samples and bounce houses/face painting etc for the kiddos.

Met JSaund and his family there.

I think we're going to try to get to Cars 2 this morning around 11.

  • Went to the USAT&F Championships for four days in Eugene. Sunny, warm, and on campus. What could be better!

  • Woodlands (Texas) WR Blake Webb sent me a text saying he got second place by .2 at the track champ.

He also loved the campus at Oregon while in town. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on.

Huh? A high school kid got second place at the united states track and field championships? I don't recall seeing that in the recap.

I think he's talking about the "Juniors" competition.

  • My weekend recap started with me getting destroyed in Texas hold em, drove down to atherton California for a wine event on Saturday with the highlight of the weekend being yesterday's bike ride. Just bought my first road bike and almost bit off more than I can chew with a 37 mile bike ride that included a 1,900 foot climb. Excited to get up to Oregon this Thursday to spend a little over a week back up in the he state.

Ahhh thank you mucho. Wish I could have been at the USATF since no TV channel has figured out how to capture the essensce of a great track meet.

  • My wife and Baby Boi just got back from Indianapolis where my wife grew up. Took him to the pool for the first time and he loved it, also took him to the swings for the first time, which he loved as well!! I think he's gonna be a thrill seaker when he's older. Changed my oil, and went to a family b-day party for my wife and my sister in law. I'm a HUGE family person and this is how I usually spend my weekends! When duck season roles around, if Im not working, we have family BBQ's and watch the game.

  • Long weekend here in Chile.

    Saturday: 27 holes of golf.
Sunday: Went 2-2 with 2 BB with my buddy's baseball team (go Giants!).
Today: Played 80 minutes at left mid.

All that was missing was a day of skiing, but the snow hasn't fallen very well this year. Not bad for a winter weekend though!

  • Went Camping at Bellows AFB and spent way too much time in the water. Just some advice...over exposure to hundreeds of waves and warm salt water can cause discomfort in places you don't like to feel discomfort.....

  • Had a big Birthday party for my daughter. After a rather stressful week of doing yard work, getting the pool ready and all of the stuff involved with throwing a party I'm glad to have a little down time. We had great weather and it all went great but I'm glad it's over!

  • Babysat my 18 month old niece Friday night so that my brother and sister-in-law could have a nice night out before #2 comes along. Farmer's market, yard work, and grilled steak, shrimp, and veggies for awesome fajitas to go along with the nice refreshing margaritas on Saturday with the family. 12 mile hike with my brother up to Punchbowl Falls and Tunnel Falls on Sunday. All-in-all, not a bad weekend.

  • I kind of had a lazy weekend. Played quite a bit of NCAA 11 and watched a couple mariners games.
In NCAA 11 I recently decided to try to work my way up in the coaching world starting with a bottom feeder. I won the national championship in my first season with Western Kentucky (although it's on varsity, so it was kind of a joke). I just won again in my second season, this time with Missouri. I got offered to coach at either Oklahoma or Notre Dame, but decided to stick with Missouri for at least another season because I like the offense a little better and the QB situation is much better than Oklahoma (I just didn't want to coach for ND lol).

    Any homers, or just singles?
Also how'd you shoot? How are the courses down there?

What part of Chile are you in? I have friends that run a guide/climbing company in Puerto Natales.

Just a couple singles, the crazy Chileans who run the league take themselves a little too seriously and only allow wood bats! Last year we could use metal and I managed to hit a double. Not bad for a 'replacement player' (when my buddy's have 8, they call me to fill in so they don't forfeit).

The courses down here are pretty nice. It's still an "elite" sport down here, so they aren't that many public courses, but as a gringo we can usually sweet talk our way on at most places. There are some awesome ocean side courses with views of the pacific for $20 - 80 a round, pretty sweet deal.

Our home course is just outside of Santiago and they keep the greens in great shape (bent grass too, just like home!). A lot of Koreans play there, so they brought over their own authentic Korean Chef. He makes some of the best food in the whole city according to us!

BTW, like I've always said, if any Duck fans make it down here beers are on me! Just ask Michael (of the I Love My Ducks videos), we had some good times.

Well I actually upvoted you, because after 37 miles, I can only imagine how sore certain spots must be and you could probably use all the help you can get...

Hold 'em, wine and biking sounds like a pretty good triathlon to me!

    cheers
