Maybe the staff feels more confident about Cunningham than the news I read yesterday made it appear? Is it possible they like him better and think they have a great shot at landing him?

LOL! Reaching...... Although I don't mind the optimism.

There are a lot of spoiled fans these days.

No, this time it isn't being spoiled. After a four-year period like the one we just had, even if our location isn't the most desirable, we should expect better than this.

  • The staff seems to have a generally good idea on who they have a legit shot with and who they don't. So if Chip Kelly isn't visiting that could be the case here. I guess we will all see what develops in the next busy few weeks.

lol, this excuse might have carried some weight in September, but not anymore, especially when recruit after recruit says they have interest in Oregon but Oregon doesn't have interest in them. Do we really want to run down the list of blue chip talent that Oregon cooled on? And it's all because Kelly is a genius guru mind reader, even though Oregon's % of commits to offers is no better than anyone elses. We're Oregon. We don't need to be asking the ugliest chick in class to the dance just because we know she won't say no.

Why? Have the results from the previous three years not been good enough? Trust our coaches.

While I have no inside knowledge, any kid that says he is "not feeling the love from the staff" is probably either not a good fit with our team or the staff has simply decided to not pursue him. Don't believe for a moment that it was due to a lack of effort by the coaches.

100% agree. Staff wasn't showing him the love for a reason imo. Obviously we don't know what it is, but I seriously doubt the staff is just trolling our entire fan base.

Holy god I can't believe you people believe the garbage you type. Seriously? This AGAIN? Oh he must have had some personality issue or work ethic issue or academic issue. Right? Always a mysterious reason why he's not good enough for Oregon, but somehow is good enough for dozens of other programs. What in the freakin world could he have done to make our staff cool on arguably the best player available at arguably the most important position of need? Again, it's such an absurd insult to the player and to all the other smart hard working coaching staffs out there.

  • Pooh. Positive pooh. But still pooh.

  • Meltdown!!!!!!!!?????? Let's be real, please. If Jack needs love beyond what he is already receiving, then he likely would be nothing but a PIA in the future. Team chemistry, team first, so much more important than so many other facets that too many people focus on.

At this point why not offer Johnny Ragin? What do we have to lose at this point?

Well, we could get rejected by Ragin for being too late; which would pretty much define this recruiting cycle for us.

asd.... who said the staff went cool on him? The staff can't talk about it, so they don't. All you hear is the athlete's feedback as presented through the media. I have no idea what was or wasn't done, since I didn't have the opportunity to question Jack. What I do know is that I have a 17 year old son that plays football. I've talked with a bunch of his friends that play. I've spoke to a number of the athletes at The Opening. Many of them are very mature and there are those that are very immature. Based on Jack's actions, I likely would find him to be somewhat immature. Best wishes to him wherever he shall land. And based upon the results that this staff has had with recruits and on the field, I will continue to trust their judgment far more than most any poster, recruiting analyst, etc., on this or any other site.

How typical. Straight to denigrating the PSA. You guys know that the JC QB we're recruiting left his previous school after a DUI conviction, right? NOBODY can EVER say anything LEGIT about why we cool on these athletes. Colt Lyerla was KICKED OUT of his UCLA visit.

Amen. Jacks statement reeks of attitude, ego and a "me first" approach to life. Maybe that's what the staff picked up on. Whatever the reason the coaching staff has historically picked players that are team oriented. Sounds like Jack did us a favor. Guess they raise big egos in Bellevue.

Or maybe it's not necessarily true, and is just an easy answer to give. Who the hell knows. All that matters is that the staff missed yet again on a very important recruit.

  • Who truly is left at this position? Cunningham is a real long shot. Pulling a Southern boy away from the SEC who also has a mother who wants him to stay close to home? Really?

There are a lot of spoiled fans these days. Oregon imo will never have s top 10 recruiting class. I get it that oregon had had a lot of success lately, but its still Eugene Oregon.

We dont have the luxury of picking kids out of our back yards. At least they've been able to keep the top talent here in oregon the last couple cycles. Gotta remember that we are asking kids to leave out of state away from all their friends and family.

I love this class and im sure they will close just fine with some nice suprises. Just be patient my fellow ducks.

This^^^^^^Plus, we do not have alot of postions of need this coming year and alot of high caliber players want to walk in and play right away. Also, based on our coaching staffs past results........We will be just fine!! Lots of arm chair coaches on this board. RELAX my brothers.

The past few years have been awesome. Now they need to work on sustaining it, and the results from this year's class don't add up to sustained success if they're missing out on dozens of key guys.

I've said it a bunch of times, love our staff, love what they do, but am tremendously disappointed with this year's recruiting. I like the players we have, but what frustrates me is that we could've had a lot more great fits for our program if the staff had simply put in some more effort. They play by their own rules, but at what point do you question if those rules are giving you the best results for sustained success?

Chip's scheme will continue to be effective for a long time, but you have to make sure you have the players to run it to the highest efficiency.
