  • Don't think Jack was essential. He would have been an OLB anyway. We have 2 good ones already in Robinson and Mattingly.

Eh, what's a Myles Jack anyway? Let the kid go to a school that will lose to Oregon during his whole college career. No sweat off of Puddles back. We've pretty much taken care of the priorities for this class so this is not a big deal at all. One more instant impact OLmen and our basis are covered imo.

Sure I wanted Jack because he can play, but I really believe we have a true diamond in the rough in Walker. People are automaticly turned off by the two stars next to his name, but the kid can flat out play. I'd like to do a test. Let's say there was no star rankings whatsoever and our(fans) evaluations and opinions were solely based on highlight videos.

I personally would chose Walkers highlights over Jacks highlights in a heartbeat. Walker looks alot better then Jack imo and Walker was going up against grown men. Also, Walker has four to play three so it's just like getting a HS kid. I think Walker is going to be the hidden gem of this class.

Plus we have Robinson and Mattingly who will both be great OLB's imo. So was Jack really a big miss? Nope. Honestly, I really wanted Jack because I think it would've helped our chances with Budda Baker. This class is far from a bust. It's a actually quite good. Only problem is the size, but it just means we'll be able to take a class of 28-30 next year.

If the coaches put in work we could have a large, deep and very talented class next year. Hopefully the staff realizes they can't approach next year like they did this year or we will start to see a little fall off.

    Great post. Agree 100 percent.

Didn't Mattingly say that Oregon planned to use him inside? Body type very similar to Kiko.

He did say that. I mentioned it in another thread. I think that bodes well for Oregon because I really like the chances of either Mattingly or Walker developing into a star at Mike. However, since this is a thread about Jack and a lot of us seem to be fretting over losing him, I brought up Mattingly as an olb. I think he has the ability to develop at either position and that versatility will allow the coaches to ensure that the best players are on the field.

Either way, I think the current lb class is very good and a fourth lb would have been a luxury and not a necessity.

  • If you're committed to UCLA and just looking for free trips, would you rather escape the winter weather and head down to Florida... or go to Eugene?

I suspect a 17 year old kid would 1) opt to go down to Florida, 2)cancel a trip to Eugene and 3) offer a 'half-ass' excuse of "Oregon wasn't showing me enough love". All the while he's thinking to himself: "Who cares? I'm going to be a Bruin anyway."

IMO, this is all for naught. The kid is committed to UCLA and he'll sign with them on LOI day.

    Anyone else agree?

Jack doesn't have a similar body to Kiko. Kiko is probably two inches taller and 20-25 lbs heavier. Just saying.

Oops, my bad. You were talking about Mattingly. Agree with you. If Mattingly puts on 15-20 lbs he'll definitely be in the Kiko mold.

Funny, I heard Jack was really interested in University of Hawaii and he wanted to take a week long OV to really absorb all the canpus has to offer.

Pretty sure he was talking about Mattingly being similar to Kiko. Mattingly did mention after commiting that Oregon planned to have him play inside. Mattingly is the same height as Kiko and about 25-30 pounds lighter. If he can put on some good weight he could be a similar beast.

Jack is originally from the south...and as we all know, Oregon doesn't recruit the way we would prefer them to do.

Sorry guys..but lets stay positive. We have Thomas Tyner! We'll be fine lol

Not just Tyner, there are some really good player's with High character and 4 star's to boot, we must remember most of our old classes we'd maybe have 3 4 star recruit's, and this class on most board's with at least 10 4's that play Team Football, and we are a very talented Team, and it will be total Team effort to bring an end to SEC supremacy, So give Chip and staff there due's, there getting this stuff figured out.
