Loved Warrick in college. Didn't he also have a great 18 ft jumper too? Haven't seen enough film on Bell to know if he has that kind of range on his J. It's great to see a defender like Bell not just playing defense on guys but attacking the ball and man. The thing I noticed about Bell is he let's guys get by him, thinking that they have a lay in only to have their sh!t thrown to the 4th row. It's been a long time since the Duckies have had a defender like him. I know you go back further than me Mac, as I have only been following the Ducks hoop team close since I got down there in 97' but I can't think of any defenders like him who attacked the ball in that time frame. One thing that makes me happy about the staff is they are trying hard to fix their areas of need. They went out and got more length and athleticism at the 2 spot. They went out and got the PG of the future and now they are working on getting longer and more athletic in the front court. I think they missed on the kid form Westview, as I just see him as a back up type of talent and I'm not really sold on Waverly either(although he has improved over the season). I'm I the only one who think he looks kind of soft out there?

I'd agree that Waverly looks soft, and lost sometimes, but he has improved as the season has progressed. Woods was very much like Austin last year, where he would show flashes of ability and toughness, and then suddenly disapear altogether. I still don't understand how Woods/Austin can't do a better job on the boards.

We've never had a forward, who can block shots like Bell ... nothing even close, really, and you are right; I go WAY back .... Bell is that out-of-nowhere, weakside shot-blocker that we've been craving ... Bell's shooting range is a bit limited, but it is improved and improving ... He also has good hands and is quite the finisher on the break! He'll also be terrific in our presses. (He sure would look good, playing next to Aaron Gordon, but that's another subject, isn't it).

And after seeing Gordon at the LSI Mac, I think he's just scratching the surface. He still has yet to develop a jumper. He is a grown man athlete right now, but he still has a ton of areas to get better in. And that's one of the first things I thought about Bell, he's going to really good in presses.

Aaron Gordon is a better Shawn Marion. Athletic freak, average outside shooter, terrific rebounder and finisher around the rim. Is also a very good athlete on defense that can literally guard almost anyone on the floor, point guard or center. He fits perfectly at Oregon next year if they get him. Would IMO likely be a starting SF or PF but could also play some center if needed. If Oregon got him I'd project Oregon's starting lineup next year as:
C - Waverly Austin PF - Ben Carter SF - Aaron Gordon SG - Daymean Dotson PG - Dominic Artis
They'd still be lacking an outside shooter but they'd have a few options off the bench there.

I like Carter's game, but I have a hard time believing he can hold onto the starting spot over Bell IF we sign Gordon. Like Mac said, Bell is the type of player we have salivated over for years and never had. He's a athletic freak, who will give teams fits.
